Has there ever been a time when you were asked to do something, given the tools to do it and thought, "na this is crap there has to be an easier way"?

Well today was one of those days.
I was charged with dusting duties given a damp cloth and a bucket of warm water.... did one shelf....look at the rest of the house and thought "this is rubbish".

Then I had a brain wave~~~~!
What if you could blow all the dust away? Surely that would be faster!
So out came the compressor, with free flow nossel in hand, I did another shelf(<1sec!) problem...dust went everywhere (not on the shelf though )and i immediatley saw it would just resettle somewhere else....bugga... no problem i'll "vent the house" grabbed some area fans and set up a circulation, opened all the windows and doors (thought brilliant!! this will work a treat). I then proceeded to dust the house, compressor in tow, and i tell ya what, boy did i do a good job! (only took less then 20min)

AND i thought i was doing an awesome job, not only was i dusting, but i refreshed the air in the WHOLE house!

Unfortunatley i was advised if i did it again my testicles wouldn't be attached for very long

I guess some people just don't appreciate true genuis!

no one else was in the house...i wore ear muffs, dust mask and eye protection, ontop of that i had the reg set to just enough pressure to dislodge all the dust.
Besides that i'm not an idiot about safety. It was a genuine solution to a problem that worked fantastically.

Was given the task of vacuuming, so I got the household barrel vacuum and proceeded to clean the rugs and such! That thing is useless, runs about one millionth of one horsepower! So I thought I'd get the BIG wet/dry out of the shed.
Sucks golfballs through a garden hose, however there must have been some oil on the floor attachment thing. After putting 4 steaks of oil on the new dining room rug, I was beaten within an inch of my life! No more vacuuming for me!!!

I done it once with an Electric Blower, , , blew about 3 of the wifes "china" things off a shelf and smashed em...

wont do that again !

I have a blower / vacuum for cleaning up leaves etc in the garden. Used it in the shed once after I mowed and it did such a good job I thought the same thing - surely it would work inside.

It does!! I just have to pick a time when no-one else is at home to do it because everyone looks at me funny when I suggest it.

Oh this is Gold !!!

I remember seeing a guy interviewed on the SBS show 'Front Up' with Andrew Urban years back

Anyway he started interviewing this middle aged couple and found out that the bloke was a 'house husband' after losing his job a few months back.

The host started talking the guys Mrs on the well worn questioning pathway of men and house work. She said he's does it all: washing, cooking, cleaning etc. When the host asks if it gets done to her standard the bloke butts in and says that he has a rule that if its him doing it, he does it his way.

An example of this was when scrubbing down the bathroom he bring in the hose through the window and uses a stiff bristled broom to scrub down the walls of the shower and then rinses with the hose. Brilliant.

He cooked meals for 4 religiously and froze 2 of them for later.

He had these semi industrial and catering techniques for doing everythine that was quicker or more effecient....he just approached it like a job - do it the fastest way possible.

Ever since I have put down the same rule in my house - If i'm doing it then it gets done my way.

After years of extensive cleaning practises the easiest way by far to clean anything is simply to let someone else do it. :
