I hope this thread gets closed its plain stupid.

Sounds like he has developed PVL (Post Viral Lethagy) or sometimes also known as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in which case thank god he didn't come out and say as much, just imagine what you people would have had to say then!!!

Maybe thats why he went to the USA for a while as it is better recognised over there and they actually try to treat it.

If you need proof, look at his overly large features, jaw structure and feet to start with, both good indications, but because done at an early age difficult to prove it wasn't a natural hormone boost during puberty.

And I rekn you may be right here too, always with beautiful women around but never linked to any one in particular

Why let the truth get in the way of a good conspiracy theory eh!!!

Haha, yeah there should be a verse in the national anthem about cutting successful people down. Part and parcel of personal opinion tho.

Seems like his career was a pearler. Lots of success in competition, became a household name and now moving on with a LOT of years ahead of him.

Lol... so exactly what else do people expect of a professional swimmer?

Gasp!!!!!

The truth might be.............he was actually a gifted athlete!!!!!

Oh hang on. Your best friends sisters boyfriends father in law was a mad scientist at the AIS............

John Howard's idea of a perfect 50's Australia? Where the **** did that come from? That same mad scientist been supplying you something else other than the mind garbage they've gotten to you with previously?

Relax mate. Go do some HGH and just calm down.

Just what I was waiting for from you, it amazes me that when other nations athletes win as much as what someone like Thorpey has how quickly we will start knocking them for possibly being drug cheats, but when it's one of our own they must be "NATURALLY GIFTED ATHLETES". Well HGH is natural I suppose so you are right.

No the guy that told me was a Persoanl trainer at the AIS and had intimate knowledge, didn't you think it was strange that time the cyclists got done how quickly it was covered up, or has the wool never left the cover of your eyes??

Well it seems as though you would like for us all to just shut up and praise him for being 'THORPEY' (that's a 50's mind set), so what he is just like you and me had a slightly better opportunity in life and did something with it, good on him, doesn't mean I have to worship him at the altar of the church of the all mighty god of sport.

I think you're the one that needs to relax, just because others have differing views to yours doesn't make them wrong, just different.

I can't believe how cut some people are in this thread.

He hasn't raced since Athens 2004. Don't you think that was a sign then that he'd had enough...???

LOL, is that all you have, a typo!

Everyone seems to know what I was talking about, and the discussion was not actually about his achievements, sexuality or otherwise; it was about the **** poor media interview he gave, and the fact that it was live on TV, FFS he swam!

Anyway, its gone way off topic.

You know it's quite funny when people have nothing better to write other than making fun of others comments, it really goes to show the zero thought process that goes into there own comments, well actually I suppose you would at least be able to read. That's a start.

My cousins used to train with him a few years ago, even got invited to his 21st. He seemed nice enough to them? Shame about his career, he was a good swimmer.

Huh?

Hmmmm.........I'm honestly touched (intimately if you like) that you care so much XRQTR.

In fact it was you who was on about the ability to read - yet you turn around and use 'there' instead of 'their'. But hey. Details details I guess.

Your on your own talking about your lower appendages. That might be best left up to you, your mad scientist mate and your intimate knowledge of Ian Thorpe.

thread is close to getting closed, stay on the topic at hand

I'm not really a fan of thorpey, but he has great achievements. I can sort of relate to his quitting situation- when I was younger in my early to mid teens I had won quite a few state titles and 3 national championships in middle distance running, after one of which my coach said to take a month off after a busy season. After the month was up, I couldnt really be bothered to keep going, training 5-6 times a week is your life. I kept running for another 6 months but i was always trying to force myself to go into comps and I felt the pressure of knowing everyone was going to ask why if I quit.

Anyway, I did quit soon after and found new interests in beer lol

Yeah back on topic eh.... He was a good swimmer but I feel there is too much emphasis placed on sporting achievements. Surely there are other australians who contribute far more to the advancement of this country?
