Smile Wade 1636 Cam alive and kicking!!!

Yesterday I got my Wade 1636 cam installed, and it rocks!

For a Mild regrind cam, you can really feel that midrange power. And it works really well for me, the power increase is definately there, though im still let it run-in before I give it a good burl! The idle noise sounds nice and overall driveability is great. Works hand in hand with my 4480 extractors too, designed for midrange power.

For a $40 secondhand EF cam from the wreckers, a great regrind from wade (cheers to scott and the boys), and a cheap install from the local mechanic with my ford shims, she's a beauty to drive. Been a long time coming but it was worth the wait ;)

Matt

Nice to see you enjoy what I have been using for over a year now, I was the first one to get it.

Have fun.

hows the idle quality? much rougher from stock and did you get a vernier gear as well? I'm looking into getting the 1636 as well

Thanks guys!

Adz/Damo - Haha, I think a run down the blacktop is definately due ;) I should really dyno my car too now.

EB Lightning - As for the Idle, it's great! it's evidently lumpier but it's not rough as guts like it wants to cut out, which im happy about. Vernier gear and new springs aren't necessary. Just the cam and shims to buffer the extra lift difference.

Mr 4.0 - I needed 12 shims all up. Got genuine Ford shims cheap through Alex (the goodz).

Bottom end work? :

Umm, it's a good cam. Better idle quality than the 1004 series of wade grinds.

It's still a baby though, and only really gives you paper increases. Torque stayed the same with mine.

Havoc, a cam that requires fly cut pistons, valve springs that don't resemble springs anymore and alot of headwork to make any decent power :P

Grechie - I get ya buddy! Booyakasha!

Yagzy - I know its a mild cam, but im very happy with it considering my budget. And for what it is, its very driveable (idles well).
A "go nutz" cam is something i dont need at the moment.
