Default New brakes

heres some pics of my new RDA Slotted rotors. I also used bendix advanced pads. Now I just have to bed them in.

They look great. I'll bet once they're beeded in that you hit your chin on the steering wheel. LOL

Just a word of warning ewith the RDAs - the hub face is not painted and will get rusty, so might be worth hitting with a coat of black or silver or whatever. Just normal paint will be fine.

I wish I knew that earlier myself. Now I need to get around to painting 3 sets! LOL!

The RDA's are prone to warping like the stocko ones, just a word of warning, ive experienced this aswell..
I wasnt really a fan of bendix advanced pads, although they do a good job, those pads and rotors, easily 20% better over standard.

I have front and rear slotted DBA's on my AU1 ute with Bendix Advanced pads, I can't say I noticed any major difference in braking, and I don't really like the pedal feel with the Bendix's. But to go to better pads I'd be looking at $180+ so I'm happy enough with them at the moment.

I got them because my originals were stuffed. these were about the same price, so I got them. Its just until I can afford a better setup.

Yeh, I didn't know either. The silver finish looks great, but doesn't seem to last. The wagons are nicely brown, which is how I know they don't stay silver. Still, the price diffeence between RDA and DBA means you can afford a can of paint and some masking tape every time! And you get to choose the colour to paint them - the DBAs come in boring old grey.

I'm looking at putting slotteds on over the xmas break, what sort of paint do you need? Something fairly high temp I assume?

Twisted, you dont need high temp paint to paint the rotors. As seen in this thread by GK.

if you're really worried, you can always just get some caliper paint from repco, supercheap, etc, although i think this only comes in 3 or 4 colours

I've got the rda rotors and ford pads, and I've found they resist fade heaps better than the stock rotors. Actual stopping power is about the same though.
I saw repco had a full pbr brake setup for abut 2 grand to update to twin piston calipers. Trouble is I'd need later model spindles too.

Ive just bought a pair of RDA slotted rotors and they were supplied with a set of RDA pads?. An ex brake specialist mechanic was telling me that you need to make sure the slides move freely on the calipers otherwise it may seize and you only get effective braking on one side of the rotor. He reckons to clean them with kero then use malignum disulphide grease to lubricate them. I've had a braking issue with the wagon since I bought it and he reckons this may well be the problem. When I apply the brakes they have to be pumped up almost every time before they work properly. (the brakes have been bled through many times with no difference). I'll know soon enough when I get the slotted rotors on.

I have a problem with warping to on my S2 XR8 within 30000 k they were warped.

I don't think moly grease is suitable for brake slides because it isn't designed for high temps and dries up. I use high temp bearing grease with no problems.
