hey
in the near future i was hoping to spend between 5-8K on making my nf fairlane 4L i6 faster. i was thinking dev5 ss kit or capa supercharger and i belive there are some good turbo kits available. was hoping to finding what would be best value for money. and does any1 know if someone has worked a nf/nl i6 and was it worth if. im not going to waste money if no1 recomends moding this car |

Definately boost! From what other people have experimented with 5-8k on an N/A i6 is a waste of time when u could turbo it and get some serious performance out of the engine, seems kits such as the SNORT kits are good value as u will also have the money to get it running properly with an afetrmarket ecu etc. with the change, and ul have one kick a** e-series!

i agree with havoc i wouldve loved to turbo my car but the worry about police canarying u and having to take the kit off to pass epa is just to much hasle i rebuilt mine with acl race series high comp kit and got trick-xd to do some serious work to the head and got a dev5 cam in it and it goes really good probly make 160rwkw on stock ecu so may go more and dev5 isnt the best cam i dont think so i would go N/A but then again there is alot more power u can get from forced induction. ooohhhh and all my stuff cost me about $3000 but i got alot stuff i didnt really need and gotripped off a fair bit so and i did it myself so yeah.
cheers josh.

Go for the turbo. When you get sick of the car rip the turbo off, sell the manifold, and put the gear on a shelf for your next project. Can't really do that with dev5 4.0i specific equipment.

Boost is definatly the way to go but you must consider
1. If you get defected you will have to rip it all off then put it back on once you pass. 2. Insurance wont cover you at all. A basic CAPA powerdyne kit might be adequate for your needs it all comes in one kit and its fairly simple to install/remove. As for the turbo ricer comment does that mean 2.5tonne turbo deisel Landcruisers and massive prime movers are also ricers? :togo: |

No it means they came with turbos just like a skyline does a old ford doesnt. My other comment was that you can go park your car next to every other man and his dog with a ford turbo and be no diffrent with a massive n/a or supercharger build motor atleast youve got something half unique. |

Yeah, be different, paint the bonnet pink, the roof purple and fit a 202 red motor.

Not quite every man and his dog has a turbo Falcon either. Talking about turbocharging one doesn't mean you have a turbo'd car. If you did a count on here, you'd find more people have JMM DEV packs, CAPA supercharger kits and worked NA motors than running, driveable turbocharged cars. I thought the whole point of modifying an engine was to make it go faster, not to impress people with 'something different'. If something is good, of course others will want to do the same.
