i don`t know full details but apparently there was an organised car show at chadstone shopping centre called big boys toys hot rods and stuff, i was told the display cars where hit by the boys in blue with defect notices and then hit again with parking tickets for not being parked correctly any one, know more about this??

Yeah all that took place i was there, the boys in blue had like 5 guys and 3 cops cars literically there walking around taking notes and defecting people while autobarn person just telling them to go away since this is a event and the people werent in the wrong. Sad to see all those nice cars just getting the yellow stickers alot of the people were disappointed

The ADRs are designed to ensure that the vehicles on out roads are safe. Many of the modifications made by people cause the vehicle to behave in eraticly or dangerously in some situations.
Do you really want to be hurt or killed because some idiot has lowered his car so far that the brakes do not work or has so many neons that he does not see you or has so much power that he loses it in the wet and drives over the top of you?

Noble Park Riots , Started because some Hoon did a Burnout and the Cops Pulled him over , along with a Tow Truck under the New Hoon Laws and Tried to Tow Him away , but A Large Mob Surrounded them and the Police Disengaged the Area , Whilst the Mob Grew in numbers , the Police were outnumbered , and whilst calling for Backup, Local Buisnesses were Trashed , Riot Police Arrived , all Ended

Result - South East Victoria is the WORST place to Go for a Drive on Friday?Saturday Nites , Because of the New Zero Tolerance stance on Drag Racing and Hooning in the Greater Dandenong Area..

Chadstone AutoBarn , People Parked on Public Land , Causing that to be Judged as Illegal Parking , and Some Poor Planning on AutoBarns Organising Skills ,

Result - Cars 'Rightfully So' Defected , People Asked to Move on , as Part of the area was Chadstone Shopping Centers Land , and AutoBarn had no Agreement for that Land to be Used ...

more often than not its:

council cheapskates road "upgrades" (so the councillors can have more expensive wine and caviar at thier meetings) causing the road surface to fail as soon as water gets on it, potholes form, complaints are lodged witht he council, and nothing is done untill an accident kills someone, forcing the council to beg the state or federal governments for extra funding to deal with the "notorious blackspot", government funds upgrades and instructs speed cameras to be placed as the "real" problem was speed........ of course, if you're living in victoria, they triple the number of speed cameras in that otherwise safe stretch of road to pay for the upgrades....... which take years to appear.....

reason for my attitude? i've been told too many times by the cops "what do you want us to do about it? sort the problem out yourself"

No one's been killed by a cold burg that I know of.... many people have been killed by people street racing or driving like a tool. Easy for the cops to prioritise don't you think ?

when the local police cracked down on what little there is of a "hoon" element (usually just the boys going out, doing a few laps then sitting down chatting in the local woolies carpark), i told the local traffic officer to his face that drug and alcohol problems would skyrocket, he swore blind nothing like that would happen, but within 6 months the headlines read "Concern over binge drinking"

from one problem to another....... but they wont listen to the public, only the politicians when they scream for more revenue

Hey all,

Just to clarify this issue

- The organisers had autho from Chadstone management and the police to hold the event. police were also invited to participate and have a stand at the show.

- Main issue is not the defects but the way in which the show was targeted and defects handed out during the show. The smart thing to have done would have been to set up a bust, post event and checked all cars coming out of chadstone not just the show cars.

- in total 5 cars were defected - 3 club cars and 2 promo / demo cars (pioneer ute and orion car) Out of these defects 2-3 were due to rim/tyre upgrades which have been already proven to be incorrectly issued and fixed. Still awaiting copies of the other defects.

Just incase anyone is wondering who is this guy!!!!

PS the RX7 that wa towed on the news was not as a result of the defects but at the owners request in an attempt to not get anymore police "attention" on the way home

I have been watching this thread evolve and wondering what was the "whole truth" If indeed these are the facts, then I would say that the police, or who ever told them to go out to the show and put some cars off the road, have made a very negative gesture to the automotive enthusiast. Almost like a concious descision was made to make more people think even less of the police. Pretty dumb I think. :

Im sure that you hear more about this soon as organisers and sponsers are very upset at the actions of the police and want answers as to who gave the order to come down and start defecting during a show which had alot of financial backing.

Good, it's one thing defecting a car whilst being driven in a dangerous manner, but sitting in a car park during an approved and legal car show.... Thats rite up there with camera's in wheelie bins. The police could have turned this into a positive outcome if they turned up and had a yarn or two to the drivers/owners. Might have even changed the attitude of one or two younger drivers for the better.

What confuses me is that on 24/3/07 at Shepparton, there is a "Rock'n'Rod" day in support of Vic Police blue ribbon fund, and organised by them as well.
Just wondering if they have any plans to "attend" that too?

i think they should actually send out cops to these meets purely to chat to car owners. if a car is obviously unroadworthy. simply mention the fact they could get pulled up for it.

if they talked to alot of the car owners im sure some of them would go home and fix the issue with their car.

of course alot of people wouldn't change it. but if you can get a few cars made safer as well as create a good relationship between car enthusiasts and cops then it can only be a positive thing.

I wonder how many people are having second thoughts about attending this Rod show after whats happened, yes its for a good cause but knowing that the police will be there in more numbers than normal, must put alot of people in doubt in taking there cars EVEN if they think they are road worthy.
