Question Shocks and Springs???

ok guys need to change the shocks and springs for the first time on my 99 au forte as i think the current ones are original and past their prime. basically just want the ride to be smooth around corners and to lessen the amount of 'road bounce' (i guesss you call it?) felt iinside.

Was thinking Koni shocks and King springs. any ideas as to exactly which types to get to suit my wants???

oh and i'm not looking to lower the car as my hometown roads are not 'lowered car friendly'.

Cheers, Stevo

since your after STOCK length shocks you have MANY options

Boges have made a good name for them selves

and kingsprings replacment springs are good
you could get higher rated standard height springs to give it a firmer feel while still having max ground clearance

Agreed, I've been more than happy with my Boges / King SLs combo in my car.
I don't think there's a real need to spend more on Koni if you're not lowering the car at all, but having not used them I'm not really an authority on them.

Best option go to ford buy the tickford suspesion package costs like 250 as they are clearing them out which gives you tickford shocks, tickford springs and the bumper stops and you can fit them ya self took me like 2 hours from getting tools out to fully packed up.

Wow - great price. The tickford shocks are Monroe by any other name.

No need to replace your current springs - they should outlast the car. It should only be the shocks that need replacing, are these are what control the rate of rebound.

Interesting fact there JC, didn't realise they were made by Monroe. Would the standard Monroe GT's be equivalent?

If you are after the Tickford kit , the p/no is AUSUSPK1T
Price I was given was $299.
Ring around as they are hard to find, in Melbourne anyway.

And just a side note, king springs and koni shocks will set you back around $1700 fitted. $495 for the springs, $1200 for the shocks(adjustable).

Its what I have, and I cant complain.. think handles like its on rails, although you feel every bump.

Pedders make an XR height (King Low) equivalent but with a softer spring rate. It's XR height, but Ghia comfy.

You could give them a call.

I wonder if Ford might seperate the Tickford kit, and only sell the front set up (I've got a wagon). No, no, no, no - must get the parts I've got lying around into the car first!
