Default Automotive tester

G'day all,

I just bought a automotive tester( mutimeter i think) mainly to get an accurate reading on the car's RPM's. Instructions for its use came with it but not being electrical minded I do not understand how to connect it up! Could some one tell me how to connect to the motor to get the rev's.

Thanks

How do you get the dash into diagnostic mode? Is this available across all series and models? Thanks
