When looking at chips, it's a good idea to ask the person if it's an actual chip that's being put into the XBOX, or whether it's a reprogrammed bios. The main reason for that is, a chip can be disabled, and you can play legal games online if you want, whereas a reprogrammed bios writes directly onto the motherboard, and has the chance of damaging the XBOX permanantly.
I recommend that you check out Xbox-scene.com for details on some of the chips and what they'll do. (believe it or not, they can do different things to the XBOX). It also has some programs that you may want to add in later. Another question to ask them is what dashboard they are going to put on. (If you are going for a new large hard drive). Anyway, check out the forums on that site, and you'll get an idea as to what is best for the Xbox. As for the price, it will cost you anywhere from $70-$300. (even more if you go for the whole 450GB route.) |
