Did anyone else see the article about Schapelle Corby writing a book?
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...568243810.html

Oh, and this article about airport staff and drug smuggling:

Well latest developments on the Indonseian Emabassy in canberra is thats its been called a terrorist act so they are so ****ed when they get caught. The indonesian government summed it up as "very unaustralian". All this shit i can almost say will damage Schapelles appeal and how would these protestors feel.

Its such a shame though that it took something like Schapelles case to move for a shake up of airports.

I'm all for a silent protest against Bali in the form of not travelling there, avoiding products from Indonseia, etc but I'm really dissapointed at how far some people are going.

Taking back tsunami donations is a really low act IMO and this attack on the embassy is pure stupidity. I feel for Schapelle and still believe that she is innocent, but that is no excuse for these low life's performing the very terrorist acts we are trying to stop... or forgetting the very reason why they donated in the first place.

Wake up Australia, surely thats not who we are.

If you have a look at that image, cant be all that toxic if the guy holding the bag doesnt have a respirator on :

Things like this dont add up. for all we know it could be the indonesians doing it to make the appeal look bad

To me, the interest in her case has nothing to do with her looks, more to do with how, at least at this point in time, it hasn't been established beyond reasonable doubt that she did smuggle marijuana into Bali on purpose.

Having said that, I can't say for sure that she's innocent, however, and this is the important bit, I can't say with certainty that she's guilty either. And that is the real problem here.

PS. I know the issue is that, under Indonesian law, the issue is that it was in her posession and is therefore her problem, however that doesn't make it fair or just to me, and I honestly fail to see how anybody could claim that it could be, seeing as it would be so easy for someone to make an innocent person be the scapegoat for their activities if they suspected they might get caught...
But how can we, in Australia, contemplate 'reasonable doubt' if we are getting our news second hand from the media. Trial by media anyone?

The only way we could possibly make an informed decision on the Corby trial, is to be in the court room for the whole proceedings.

A countries legal system has made a ruling based on information given, if it is wrong at least they have a appeal system.

The hardest part of all this is for us to accept that for the same crime in Australia, she would have got 2 - 3 years, instead of the 20 Indonesia have given.

That reminds me, all the Aussie lawyers asked have said that she would have been convicted if tried here.
Also the prosecution were going for a life sentence (Marijuana is a class 1 drug), the judges showed lenience with a twenty year sentence.

If she is innocent, I hope her appeal wins.

Another interesting article I found, this time about indonesian hackers circulating virus emails about Schapelle Corby.

http://australianit.news.com.au/arti...E15306,00.html

I hope this doesn't make things become too tense between the two countries...

So true.

Does anyone know how many Aussies have been caught & convicted for drug trafficing in different countries?
Why is this the first case to recieve so much attention?

Can someone explain to me, what is the deciding factor that proves she is innocent and that the judges were wrong to convict her.

Hang on a moment, just slipping into my flame proof underwear, just incase. it:

That's a very good question. I'm sure this is not the first case like it, and it won't be the last either, however quite why it even got reported by the media at all is a mystery...

It's not that much of a mystery and the proof is in the result. She had the face and the story to sell papers and airtime, nothing more, nothing less.

A few days ago a Vietnamese Australian got pinched trying to send a 300g package of Heroin through the post to Australia from Vietnam. I haven't heard much else about the story or whether he claimed that the postal service put it there because it's likely the public won't get behind him... he's not a young, moderately attractive woman who can capture the hearts of a media gullible nation. We'll probably get an update after he's shot (but I do think he attempted to send a quantity just under the death penalty requirements) or gaoled for life and that will be it.

I think it may be the fact that IF the drugs were planted, it could happen to any of us, so it sort of hits home to the average person taking the average holiday overseas. Then with all the arrests, sackings and involvment of the baggage handlers in Aust that sort of reinforces the fact that she could be inocent, only she knows that for sure but.

True, but we still have the unanswered question of the 4.5kg boog board bag. Surely people traveling overseas are aware of the dangers of baggage being fiddled with, and when you pick up a bag that should weigh 500grams but all of a sudden is 4.5kgs, a warning bell in your head will start ringing.

Give me more proof.

As the lawyers in Australia have said, she would have been convicted here as well, the only difference would have been the sentence.
