i heard on the radio this morning that some 37 year old guy bashed a 66 year old guy to death for watering his front lawn.apparently the younger abused the older guy for watering his lawn outside watering hours.the old guy took offence and hosed the other guy .the old guy was punched to the ground and then kicked,he later died in hospital.my neighbour offen waters whenever he feels like it but i have not seen him attacked(yet).seems you have to be a bit more careful these days

That is very dodgy. Let that be a warning to those of us who have had the little cheat here and there...

The older bloke belongs (belonged) to a 'mind your own business' generation. So long as you do nothing 'too' evil.
At the end of the day, we pay our *own* water rates, and fines. Meh.... |

It should be the other way round - I have a rainwater tank with a pump - The tap fitting looks like a normal tap - Even tho i have a big "Rainwater in use" Sign i get people telling me i shouldn't be washing my car - etc etc -
People need to mind there own business - Theres an old lady next door to me who waters after 4 Everyday - I guess some days aren't appropriate but its not up to me to hassle her |

Two equally stupid people, and look at the outcome.

I think the younger guy did the right thing mentioning the water restrictions. Some people believe they can do whatever they want without thinking about how it effects everyone else. To be fair, its not just the 'older people' though from what i've seen a lot are often pretty stubborn.
In saying that though, there should have been a point for both of them when they should have let it go and backed off, nobody deserves to die for watering their lawn. |

Yeah, every drop counts.... but I read that the old guy was actually watering within the limits imposed by the stage 3 limitations. between 4pm and 10am wednesdays and sundays with hand held hose.
Very sad outcome...I would hate to think how sick to the stomach that young fella would be feeling today knowing that.

At the end of the day, some stubborn old man was watering his garden and wanted to be a hero with some knucklehead that has anger management issues and no brains. I bet that if this stupid old man just turned off the tap and went inside for a few minutes, he’d most likely be alive today.

The old man was watering his lawn on a day it was allowed. Just in case anyone missed it.

Watering the lawn is a little different to beating a 66 year old to death. If the 36 year old wanted to do the right thing he should have reported it.

I still wash my car (probably once every two months) with a hose even though its illegal. I do it because I'm not a mindless idiot that believes whatever the state government says is true. Buckets would consume far more than a quick spray of my trigger hose. I agree that people should mind their own business in things they have no idea about. If Sydney Water fined me I would just cop it on the chin, but if someone like that 33 year old guy had a go at me, I would have go back.

That is really, really sad. He doesn't live all that far from me, so it really hits home when it is a member of your community. The poor bugger's family will never see justice.
It really is a shame that 'do gooders', who are really in the wrong can do something like this, and expect to get away with it. What kind of community have we become?

As people have said the little *&*&^ who killed the old bloke had NO RIGHT to attack him in any physical way for watering a lawn EVEN if it was illegally.
Of course - it probably wasn't. I know that some older people can get exemptions and are allowed to water any time, the attacker has NO IDEA if any special circumstances existed. For all he knew the old bloke MIGHT have been using rainwater etc. It's true that the victims family will never see (appropriate) justice for this. WHat a world we live in ! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what people are missing here i think, is that the young man didn't attack the old guy for watering his lawn, but attacked him when he was sprayed ... i know it seems pathetic (which it is) but that would have gotten the young guy angry at being sprayed so he attacked!
im not saying what he did was right, but everyone knows the media, they make it sound like it was nothing but a guy watering his lawn and then he was beaten up! the young guy deserves every punishment he gets, he should have left it and reported the old chap!

the young fella was probably irrate with the old boy watering in the first place, but when you cop a literal spray from a hose, it was enough to totally p!ss the younger bloke right off, hence the reaction we saw today. But yes, 2 wrongs dont make a right. now he has a criminal record and the death of this old guy on his mind for life. Thats a mental sentence I wouldnt want to live with personally.

Some people seriously. Even if it was during restrictions WGAF. yes water is important, but moreso than a life? Get real.
The attacker should be locked away, what a pyhco! If you have an issue call the authorities.
