just found another problem to go with the others, water dripping on my foot during heavy rain. anyone else have this problem? im just curious where it comes from....is it from a leaking front windscree or does it some how come down through the fire wall where the wiper arms attach..

Leave blocking the cowl channels; open bonnet and remove leaves from corner of the opening nera the doors.

could possibly be the rubber grommets where the engine bay wiring comes through the firewall into the cabin? maybe one came out

I got the same problem. Its not my windscreen, found that out the expensive way, but a mechanic mate a ford, told me run water down the windscreen while looking in the car and u might find it, thinks it could be the gromemt that goes around the brake shaft.

Yeah, thats another possiblity, but i couldn't see or feel any cracks in my firewall

i also got the same problem. seems to be coming from somewhere near the steering column, and it leaking on wires!!
Im not sure what i can do bout it either

Get the hose into those cowl corners and you may flush out some leaves and fix the leak or at worse find another source.

funny you should mention that mine started doing the same thing a couple of weeks ago .....drips on my right foot but i think it is a windscreen weather strip problem on mine i notice the seal has a crack in it and some of the other seals are starting to show some sun damage :(

Mine has been doing it for ages, happens more so when turning during the wet, or straight after giving it a wash... Im kinda used to it, and have gotten used to remembering to move my feet in time!!!

I'm assuming everyone who has this issue drives a manual? Thus the water dripping issue has something to do with the shithouse strength of the EA-AU firewall?
Anyway, i've recently had my pedal box replaced and firewall repaired (today actually, like driving a new car now  ), i'll let you know if I still get a wet foot when (if?) it next rains. Or i might go wash my car later in the week and test it out. ;)

Cracked peddalbox/firewall.. common problem, EVERY manual will do it at some point or another.
of a job, but yes it does fix the leak. |

Refer to my post (& threads) AU falcon - "GXR: Water leaking drivers side front"
This reply I made today: Hi Guys Well I picked up my car from my panel beater yesterday. (NOTE: He said to find the source of the water leak, DO NOT USE A HOSE. To isloate the location of a water leak he said use a watering can. Have a person looking under the dash while you pour water. Start low, ie. plenum chamber, then work up the side of the windscreen very, very slowly. When it starts to leak, this is the level (area) where water enters your car). Anyway: My windscreen & seal were OK. A grommet in the firewall was not fitted properly due to someone previously stuffing around. He siliconed this. This was not the cause of my leak. The cause of my leak was the plenum chamber. He explained to me the plenum chamber sits under the wiper assembly catching all the water from the windscreen (like a gutter on a roof). The brake & clutch bracket are spot welded to the underside of the plenum chamber. 3 out of the 4 spot welds are broken. He has siliconed this to stop the leak. As it is a structural problem it needs to be welded. Fortunately my car is just in warranty and the dealer I purchased my car from has OK they will fix (?MIG weld) this under warranty. They have acknowledged this is a know problem with AU Falcons. This should then be a long term fix. Again thanks for your input, you guys were right. |
