HOW TO –REPAIR S2-3 KEYPAD
I’ve noticed that as my keypads age, the buttons get a bit harder to push, thereby not always activating the necessary function, or requiring a real, hard push. I had a go at making it a bit better today and found the result very good. Hence, I’ve quickly put a “how to” together. 1. Open keypad with a 10cent coin and pull apart. 2. Lift out the rubber button insert. 3. Separate the rubber buttons insert from the circuit board. 4. Take some rubber and cut a piece to fit the appropriate button. 5. Reassemble and test. 6. If the rubber you’ve inserted is too thick, the keypad may activate the whole time, or be too much like a hair trigger. If so, use a wooden peg to hold the rubber while you cut it with an appropriate blade. 7. Reassemble and test. Hopefully all will be good. Cheers, GK

Thanks George. Another practical how to. My keypad suffers from this.

Nice work GK ... you have come through with yet another successful How-To for the AU Falcon section.
Without you ... a lot of us would be lost :hih: I still don't know how my keypad still works with the excessive use it gets.

The other problem these things have is dry joints on the battery holder. Trouble is the way its mounted you have to get the soldering iron under the battery holder. An iron with a conical tip is the way to go.
The next time I have mine apart Im going to disable the alarm button. Kids are forever setting it off.
