hi guys, i have come to this forum in the hopes someone can explain a problem. i have been away for 3 days and left my series 111 au falcon at home, locked and i had the keys with me. when i got home, the radio had switched on in the car. I can assure you all no one had access to this car. My neighbour tells me she was at my house the day before and it was not going then, so it has switched on in the 24 hours before i got home. after speaking to 3 different ford dealerships the only explanation i have from them is that it is a supernatural event. no one has ever heard of this happening before. i would appreciate if anyone here has any explanation.... thanks deb |

thankyou so much for your replies. i have been sitting here all day waiting to see if anyone has any ideas. The thing that gets me is nobody knows whats going on, ford dealerships, auto electricians. i know that the au 3 has 1 hour keyless play but you have to turn on the radio once you remove the keys. my radio is going 24/7 unless i manually press the button to turn it off. i swear on my kids the radio was not on when i left on holidays and no body had access to the car.

has it done it since you have been back? Next time you go for a drive turn the stereo off and see if it turns on atomatically. It could just be a faulty micro switch

i drove about 5kms today with it turned off manually to see if it turned on and it didnt. i had to push in the button to turn it on, then when i got home, push in the button again to turn it off as it wont go off when i remove the keys.

If you have the radio code i would disconnect the battery for awhile and then reconnect it and put the code in.
It maybe the control chip has had a surge and maybe it needs resetting. Have you been jump starting your car or others before this occurred? |

I assume it is the original radio.
They have an always on wire for the memory so maybe that is touching the other power wire somewhere either at the connector or on the printed circuit board inside the radio. I did read somewhere that the loading switch for cd's on aftermarket brands can cause this problem. Maybe try loading and unloading a couple of cd's. Thats all I can think of that could cause this sort of behaviour |

seeing if the cig lighter works when the car off wasn't a soloution, but was just trying to work out if the fault lies in the stereo, or the acc wiring. Does it work hen the car is off?
