Default Engine Bay Colour Query

Dudes

My Liquid Silver (LD) XR8 engine bay is painted the 'same' colour as the car.

Is it actually Liquid Silver though ? Appears to be darker, and and solid paint rather then metallic.

Can anyone give me any clues to this ?

Throw up a pic so we can see the colour differences. My XR's bay is painted black.

This has been covered. The verdict if I remember was that it is completely random. One car can have a colour "coded" engine bay, and the next was black.

It may be the same colour, just no clear coat.

Its just a plain grey in mine, no clearcoat and no metallic. You might have some overspray along the inner guards thats metallic, but the main base colour isn't.
I think Ford have a number of "base" colours for engine bay, etc, that is a smaller than the number of colours offered......like no metallics, and only one white.
Even the "base" grey colour in both my liquid silver AUs has only had a lick and a promise. If you strip everything out of the engine bay, theres heaps of places that are still the greenish-grey chassis colour......I think this "chasis" colour is the random one mentioned above......every ford I remember has at least had a lick of paint in the engine bay that is similar to body colour.

No, not all got a body colour in the engine bay, some were just plain black. If you read the posts above, including Peutys, you would discover what I have said has already been mentioned.

Sorry guys, my question was not really to do with "Why do some have black and mine has body colour"

It was more to do with what "base" (Or at least close) colour it was, as I'm redoing the underbody of my XR8 and would like to keep it uniform colour wise.

Scrape a bit off, take it to a panel beaters, and ask them to match it.

Sorry, mate, didn't mean to dispute the black part, just sayin I've never had one
I've never had an XR8 either, but that don't mean there aren't any.

I think I misunderstood "completely random", but if I'd read your next sentence properly, I'd have realised you were right 100%.
as in "completely random whether it got black or body colour"
not "completely random which colour it got" :togo:

You gotta forgive me, I'm not as old as I used to be.....I'm OLDER
