Default Help me pick rims...

Ok so i have decided to spend some extra cash to pay for some rims for my car. thnking maybe in a few weeks. after i decide what i want, or what would look good. im aafter something along these lines.

- Something classy rather then something sport looking.
- chrome doesnt bother me (as long as its not full plate)
- 18" maybe 19" leaning more towards 18" tho due to tyre price unless its a good price

i drive a series 1, Sparkaling Burgandy Fairmont. that is already lowered.

hope you guys and gals can help me find some good looking ones.. I dont mind the XR Rebels in 18" half class half sport taken eiitehr way i guess.

some pics or links to sites would be greatly appreicaited.

thanks brad`

Mate you have a million options. Personally I like the factory look but I am running aftermarket rims now - on a car the color of yours I would go with either a factory rim like T3 18's or Rebel 18s as you mentioned, or something with a bit of a lip and a nice pattern like Starcorp Fusions.

Ultimately though it is up to you and photoshop is a good way to test a few out before you shell out the dollars. I will say though re rim sizes - dont let tyres stop you from going a certain size. I am on 19s now and have moved up from 18's and my new tyres are only going to cost me an extra $30 per corner to put them on.

what is your budget?

I for one have similar tastes to your own.

I have been looking at a few different designs and have concluded to myself that a rim with a dish and studs are the basic requirements.

Here are a few I personally like the look of that I beleive will suit your car

18x8 HP Design HP-10

18x8.5 Starcorp Agle

18x8 Speedy Adrenaline Wet Silver

18x8 Speedy Mercury Chrome

19x8.5 Koya Endless Series Chrome 1

I like Starcorp Impuls ... ok they are an older wheel ... but with the wide-pack rears ... the dish is deep ... and they looked awesome on the AU.

Glenn had them on his AUII ... and they were beautiful. I think his was Sparkling Burgundy as well.

51RTE - those wheels are nice. Personally speaking, I would prefer to see the black inner lip to be silver or polished. But other than that I reckon it may be a different choice for Brad.

Simon - That pic of the red au with the Impuls looks hot mate. Good example. Your right though, I reckon 19's look better. We'll see what Brad thinks.

b2tf - Was the car you saw lowered?

Yeah ... Glenn's AU was neat indeed ... I picked the wheels up off a guy in Sydney and sent it to a transport company to send them up to him ... and they were really nice close up ... a clean simple wheel that was effective with teh deep dish rears.

and they are to suit pre-AU offset, so no go for you mate.

That Speedy Adrenaline picture I got straight off the Speedy website. Im sure most wheel & tyre shops deal with Speedy so you should be able to shop around for a price with selected tires of your choice.

I must stress though to try not to skimp out on quality tires. Even if you need to wait a bit longer, I would pay a little bit extra on quality tires.

thoose 17" come in both pre or normal.

i understand the tyre factor, im looking at finding the rims im after then going for a package to see if i can save money on them,

i did find a polish mirror lip on a set of 5 spoke rims that were in shadow chrome... but they retail for $2200 so that sucked.. there Lenso LS5

yeah Lenso rims can be a little pricey. Still they have one of the best ranges of styles out there. The LS5's I have seen before on other cars. Its not bad. Have you considered perhaps the Lenso S7 - Modify rims as a possible choice? I have seen them on cummodores, lowered and frankly I think they look hot but not as hot as on an AU. ;)

There is only one set of wheels I would buy (beside T3 18's) and they are Simmons FR19's
