Default FPV turns 5 - special commemorative model

Couldn't see that this has been posted before so here we go...
From caradvice, So what will it be !!!

Quote:
Ford Performance Vehicles will turn 5 this year, and in order to celebrate the auspicious occasion, FPV has today announced that it will build a special commemorative model, details for which will be revealed at next month’s Australian International Motor Show.

We have seen a few special editions from FPV lately, following last year’s 40th Anniversary GT and Cobra models. However FPV General Manager, Rod Barrett promised FPV fans the special edition model would be a great collector’s vehicle.

FPV was born after the acquisition of the Tickford by UK-based Prodrive. Motor sport fans would know Prodrive as the leaders behind many motor sport success stories ranging from the Subaru world rally team to Aston Martin.

The first car came in the shape of a V8 FPV GT in 2003 and marked the beginning of a new era in performance motoring, with the company now best known for its turbocharged vehicles.

“When we first launched FPV the brand revolved around the iconic status of the GT, now FPV has grown in only five short years to include two families - the GT and the F6, available in sedan, Ute and SUV models.” said Rod Barrett.

Back to the special edition 5-year anniversary model. Although we have had a hard time squeezing information out of our sources. They all say it will be something truly special. A GT HO?

“There has been much speculation about where FPV will head next, the GT HO is always on the radar, however, it would depend on whether a business case could be achieved and whether there would be market demand when we are ready to release it,” added Barrett.

What about an FPV Focus to sit above the XR5?

“Whether or not we move into the small car market is something we will look at once the Focus is produced here in Australia, of course it is always an option for the future.”

New changes following the motor show will include the addition of unique FPV badging with Mr Barrett saying owning an FPV is no longer about whether it’s a GT or an F6, but about serious performance.

It does seem kind of sad "5th Anniversary model".
As long as its better then HSVs VE 25th Anniversary special edition. A GTS in Light gold with a build plate and a few logos. That makes stickers look unique!! :

If they paint the standard wheels another colour like the other 'special editions' i'm going to puke. How many colours can they make one wheel?

When FPV say they are going to do a "Special Edition", sorry, but I don't get excited at all...... Unless this is the beginning of a new era, and yes, something special does rear its head. But I won't be holding my breath.......

Sorry FPV, but you do have a sad history of stickers, to make special editions.....

Remember the last time Barrett promised something really special and changed the ford badges to fpv ones (although couldn't stretch to change the one on the steering wheel), but hey cut them some slack they can change badges AND stickers you know!

5th anniversary will = $4600 more than normal reatail

Revised vinyl stickers,
Revised seat embroidery,
Revised floor mats,
Revised key ring,
Unique build plaque and number,
Different rims than the carry over BF (with equally skinny tires)
Revalved (aka cheap) stock dampers, possibly stiffer springs with lower ride height,

There's little chance they would have been able to keep a worthy GTHO model under wraps for release this year me thinks.

If this is true - seriously, what's the point? It's like the 40th anniversary and the Cobra - cheap sticker packages to get rid of some stock. I'm sorry, but I feel sorry for everyone who bought a 40th Anniversary or Cobra in terms of the actual value of the product, sentimental value is different. But come on Ford - FFS! Holden do a 7lt V8 and Ford do a sticker package.

There is no power adjustment for this car, but it is "packaged" slightly differently to the tex list
