Default Hypothetical- GT-F6 Lite verisons

Hey all,

I don't know everything about development of cars, but I was wondering could FPV make an ultralight verison of the F6 and GT and a reasonable price? Or an F6 ultralight light F6 with the Territory AWD system? You would think something like this would be the closest thing to a race car and may make them a future ledgend. Anyway just a question.

Yep, they could make it out of that super strong, super light and cheap new metal called unobtanium...

they "tested" the terry 4x4 systems in a falcon body,
so i dont see why it would be that hard for them.

i would love a 4x4 falcon to stop the understeer
would also need a bloody good traction control system

The only problem with that is, you will get a lot of people complaining that there 60K + falcon doesnt come with all the gear a 60K car should.

In saying that, I totally agree with you.

oh man an AWD F6 RS spec hehe that would be a cult car, the ford HERO car of the century. That would bring their rep up 100%!!! they could even have rallies, it would be a top contender in targa's and they could have an F6 Cup wooo

dreaming is so enjoyable though :(

I'd sell my sprint for that!

What about an equivalent of the Holden SV8 but using the turbo barra?

Falcon body, sporty but 'non xr' interior and exterior but with the XR6-T motor for same RRP as the XR6-T ($39,990)

Does the SV8 weigh much less to an SS?

I'd been keen to see a cheaper XR8 or XR6T with less options, I think it could work.

Im interested to see the rational behind dropping the @rse out of the pricing (and spec) of a product that's trying to maintain a sembellence of prestige driven by price and specification in a market already with its pants down.....

Well,

1. People like spending the least amount of money possible.
2. The same power/torque of a XR6T or XR8 with less weight from less options should be quicker then a fully optioned one.
3. Something new and exciting to put into the Falcon model range.
4. Sounds better then a limted run of sticker/option XR6T or XR8.

The list could go on!

The only reason I got thinking of a lighter car was from reading an old wheels/motor on the HRT427 and thought how good would it be to see what would happen if FPV did that to an F6....at a price though. The HRT427 died from being too expensive didn't it? If I was a Holden bloke, which I'm not, I would rather the 427 to the new thing thats out now.

The current range is already exceptional value IMO, Ford need to build better quality cars for the current price, not "dumb it down" by building base spec fully sic road rockets just to keep the "must have it now" kids happy...
Ford need to entice people to spend more on cars... or aspire to the next model up, making a cheaper XR series will kill the current range and probably compromise quality even further.

Less than the standard? What would be missing? The air con, power steering & radio? How much lighter would this be and who .... especially in any numbers ..... would buy one? Order a stockie (NO premium stuff as thats too heavy), take the carpet and back seats out and that should shave .02 off the 1/4!

Adding AWD to any car will add weight... you need about 10% more power in an AWD application just to maintain 2WD performance in a straight line...

but either did the other clubsports at the time. the F6 is fords current hero car(basicly) most car people know the potential - can you imagine lightening it(as its bloody heavy) and giving a 4wd option? damn fun car - of course its completely hypothetical - ford would never build anything like that, especially when its already losing so much money, that kind of development would cost huge amounts of money they definately dont have to spare

the lightening im thinking of is composite materials, lots of alloys etc.. like a FPV F6 built by Pagani lol
but as i said, its nice to dream

In your sig you state you are the stock controller for pathetic ford so you should be quite aware of what configs heads actually BUY.

How many GTs sell without any options except the stripe package?
How many F6s sell with any options other than auto trans?
How many Cobras/GT40s were not povvo?

Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, badge, cheap cheap, cheap.

Brembo brake upgrade, too much money, R-Spec, too much money, anything else, too much money.

How many new GT/F6 sales only just get finance after the 10th go?

How about a F6/GT with extreme luxury and subtle style, only $10k extra?
They had to be forced out the door.

How about better suspension for a couple of $k?
I bet they were rspected to sell a bit better than they did.

How about a go fast Terri with all the goodies?
Sales proofing probably should not have been a standard feature.

HSV tried the AWD sports car with the Coupe4 and made the best handling V8 ever sold in Australia. It is still much quicker on corners than even the FG, GTS or W427. Both of the cars sold go really well.

Building your AWD Supercar might be a good idea technically but you need to find a country to export them to because only dreamers will want them here and the idea is to SELL them....

For pretty much had this with the XT 3V V8, even though it wasnt an XR8 it was still a base spec V8, and apart from mainly enthusiasts buying them they have become as rare as Hens Teeth.

It's only a question, I am not saying it should happen, you obviously don't think its a good idea. I also used the word "or" meaning it doesn't have to be AWD.

The 3V made 20kw less than the turbo, used more fuel and doesn't respond to mods so wasn't that populer.

yeah, and they're a great car to. Shame they didnt continue it with the FG, Guess that just makes them even more unique.

So you're saying a $5k cheaper car with 17's instead of 18's, standard trim/lights/kit, XR wheel wouldn't sell?

My post was my opinion why if such a beast were made it would probably be a failure.

WHY water the product down???!!! Suddenly it doesn't become as "special" to own an XR....

Maybe Ford could bring out the "fully sic street drag pack" you know, a maccas carpark special: a Falcon XT with turbo 6 with front alloys, black steel rear wheels and atmo blow of valve..
