only three and a half years ago, a thread title the same as this would have been met with many angry people...

As soon as petrol passed $1.10 a litre, i instantly said that i was going to give away petrol for good. Nearly three years later and i'm still sticking by my word.

It's arond the 1.25 mark up here in Cairns still.

If it drops to the 1.10 mark like it has in a few places. I'm stocking up on it. Buy me some 44 gallon drums.

If only they put the price of LPG down back to 30 cents where it was when petrol was around $1 in 2005.

This also prompts the Q, how long does unleaded or premuim or ultimate/optimax last before it starts to go "off" and is it really worth filling up half a dozen 44's to make it viable if it does drop below a buck?

Any Chemists in here with the right answer, not a bunch of shed stories.

Good point mate.

Just imagine if the small print said you had to pay 99cents a litre know matter what the fuel price was.

Heh filled up with 98 @ 120.9 yesterday morning, ULP was 109.9.

Last night same servo and quite a few around them were 129.9 for ULP !

This morning it was back to 110.9, trying to take advantage of some who just assumed it was still cheap I guess!

From my experience I've found that Premium stays "fresher" longer than ULP.

ULP seems to go off in a matter of weeks nowdays it seems, and worse in hot weather.

Goes by RON rating if I remeber correctly, so you will still get 8 months out of Premium its just that it wont be considered premuim after 3 months

Yeah I did think of that after I posted actually. But 91 seems to go off real quickly nowdays.

Compared to when we had lead in petrol it would last for years it would seem!

I have come accross at least 10 stations in and around Newcastle that are below 1.30L. Cheapest I saw was Islington 1.22L, Toronto 1.18 (with doc), Cardiff 1.22, Mayfield 1.23, Kotara Wollies 1:18L (doc) etc.
