Default Abbreviations

Hello all, I notice alot of people using abbreviations in their posts. I do not mind this at all but for the life of me I can not figure out what they are trying to say. So I have got a list together of the ones I know and feel free to add your own.

And before anyone says I am an old fart, I am 23 :

Lol = laugh out load
PMSL = myself laughing
ROTLMAO = Roll on the floor laughing my *** off
POS = Piece of shyt
FFS = For ducks sake
BTW = By the way

FFS is useful to convey exasperation in an "Australian" way without avoiding the swear filter. There is not really any equivalent to it that is used in average Australian speech.

The others are just part of the 21st century.

I do agree though that the overuse of SMSlish will detract from the quality and credibility of the forum.

Yes. There is also "IMHO" which can be "in my honest opinion", or "in my humble opinion."

Let's not forget "wtf" and "stfu".

I can handle acronyms (and use quite a number of the above) but when a post is made up of many abbreviations of words I zone out and enter Grandpa Simpson mode. Our language is being butchered by the SMS 'speak' generation, but I digress..

FFS is something I use quite often when I'm playing COD4. :P

BBL - Be Back Later is probably the other one I use often.

For all us "old dudes" out there, here's a dictionary we can keep referring to so we know what the hell all these young fellas are on about.
