I have noticed my a/c in my car gets icey cold after about 10 mins of constant driving. I love it. Especially on a day like today.

The cars im talking about are not old cars. I can understand if people in old cars were having trouble but i'm talking about people in new'ish car with no reason to have to slow down.

Managed to get off work at 2:30 today.

Got to the point where i had to sit in front of a fan and dump 2 liters of near frozen water on my face. It was good for a whole 30 seconds.

The best part of these few 43+ degree days was sitting in the XR to and from work with the aircon blasting.

^ It's going to take a lot of digging up, but a couple years ago I got an O/S temp reading of 50 degrees at some point across the Nullarbor. ..and people tell me till they're blue in the face that it's never been 50 degrees anywhere in Australia ever.

Mighta been back in 96 or 97. We had to go from Wagga Wagga to Melbourne during a hardcore heatwave around that time, in an ED with broken/no air conditioning.

I was working outside most of the day, I had a stupid Farenheit thermometer that recorded this temp in a shed I work in.
It was marginally cooler outside in the sun.
Package this with full overalls and glass cab's with no air con...You get the picture. F..kn' Hot

First pic is Jan 29-08 47 C (117F)
Second pic is Jan 30-08 48 C (119F)
Sorry about the quality, stupid phone camera won't focus in close.
These were temps from inside the shed. (first pic is outside for the light)

It was 47C in our pagola (I think thats how you spell it), when I came in to have a drink from wreaking a ZL Fairlane. Get inside (I love aircon!) Get into a different set of clothing and lay under a fan for about half an hour... Then back to the maddness...
Thanks,
Andrew

Yeah, one of our area managers who lives in Launceston was in shock. It hit 40 or 41 there today.

We've had our run of excessively hot weather in Western Sydney.

January has averaged 31 where I am, which is about 3 or 4 degrees higher than the average last January. 14 days so far this month over 30, 2 of which have been over 40!

I was at Blacktown yesterday and the ICC was reading 44. Have seen it hit 47 or so a few times.

The highest recorded temp in Australia is 50.7 in Oodnatta in 1960 or 53 in Cloncurry in the late 19th Century, depends on which site you read.
The BOM records temps in the shade, which is going to be significantly different to direct sunlight temps on your ICC.

I was suprised to see my boss out in the ute today catching up with our drivers to hand out cold drinks from a very large esky. It was timed beautifully, all my frozen drinks were getting warm by 10:30am.

Feel for you guys. While I don't mind a dry heat, days on end is a bit much.

Here is a pic of my outside temp readout from the Thursday before last in Sydney. It was taken in the Shire around 3 pm. I had been driving for a while so its propably a pretty accurate air temp. The Mini temp is always the same as my NC, Forester, and Oregon Scientific weather station at home so I think its right on.

Its a bit blurry, but says 45.5!

... and no, the roof was up with the air con blasting!!!

Wicked! We are having a cool change tomorrow! It's gonna be 41!

http://www.weather.com.au/sa/roxby-downs

Spent all day digging holes in the sun today not fun at all. Had some pizza from the fridge in my lunch box today. When I went to eat them they were that hot the cheese was runny like they had just come out the oven.

Pft, who ever told you it's never been 50 is full of it. The highest recorded temp was 50.7 in Oodnadatta.

I recall two years ago it got to 52 in the shade on the porch at my parents place in NW Victoria.
