Default regrets?

what is one car you had in the past that you NEVER wished you lost. (You may have sold it or smashed it!)

Sold my E49, would love to have it now (but nothing to do with value), although it did pay off my first house.

My EBXR8 , green XC GS fairmont or my green XE. I loved those cars and am still kicking myself for selling them for no reason.

XF Wagon painted by me (im clearly not a painter) royal blue, lowered, full exhaust system, shaved head, ported and polished, stage 3 cam - few other bits and peices that dad did at the time, manual conversion

It was "MY" car when i turned 18

I went thru 5 diff's and a tail shaft, never had an oil leak and ran like a well oiled machine, lol the metal strip at the top of the windscreen would blow off at any speed above 130 :P

I crashed it into a cermetry down near Hazelwood pondage when i was at uni :(

My HX sandman. My old man hated that car and put pressue on me to sell. Still living at home. In the end, I gave in to the constant ranting and raving and traded it in on a Magna. He thought this was a much more sensible car.

2.

Lost a TD XLE Cortina, dark blue with a 250 in absolute mint condition... until some dropkick thought a recent red light meant really gun it through the lights.

XW GT, needed a bit of work but was running out of options to store it after splitting with the gf at the time. It sat in my garage while my daily driver was stolen 3 times in 6 months which put the nail in that coffin. :(

I had a silver VR Commodore. It was my first decent car. I had a VC SLE before that.

I bought the VR as stock standard. Over the course of 18 months, it was lowered pro. 2 inches, exhaust, extrators, the SS Cold Air, K&N Filter, a nice set of 16x8.5" ROH wheels.. dark inners with a chrome lip, tints, steering wheel. Stereo, etc. etc.. Sounds like your typical bogan ride, but it was entirely different and much as it was a young guys car, it was very clean, and neat and could blend in without Police picking on it. And for V6 it didnt go to badly either. Bit of a sleeper.

Within 18 months it was up to 250,000 + kms.. I traded it in for the falcon.

I started to miss it a bit after 6 months. As I saw it cruising around town.. slowly, it became the typical bogan commodore. The owner after me sold it, then a young bogan girl started driving it around.. the exhaust, I dare say they removed part of it, because it sounds like a tractor, the mags went for a set of 2 19" late model Commodore copies on the front, and black stockies on the back, and it was dumped so low in the rear it could barely get up the drive way. That and it was always covered in dirt and dust.

Poor thing.

I haven't ever sold a car i wished i'd kept, i only ever sell cars when i start to hate them, ie they become a liability not an asset.
But the cars i have been offered that i wished I had bought...
Like a mint VN Calais on LPG for next to nothing...
And a VL wagon before the VL prices doubled...
And a mint XF Fairmont Wagon for next to nothing...
And a mint Mazda 929 Fastback for next to nothing...

ah, oh well. They probably all would have fell apart in my hands anyway.

1976 XB GT, walnut glow with white interior & black seat inserts. Last manual XB GT ever made. Had a few "era" extras, hotwire mags and an original John Goss front bib spoiler.

The motor was good for 380hp and 400 ft lb of torque.

Sold it for deposit on my first house. Car had less than 150,000kms on it and was in great shape.

I still wonder where it is now...

2 cars io can think of . my 1st car . TC XLE cortina 250 auto . hump in the bonnet , and kicked all my friends cars . and then my TE 250 CORTINA GHIA MANUAL , another stock tyre frier. they mightened be fast by todays standards , but that 4 litre engine had some go and was geared for torque over top speed.

I sold my 59 Bugeye Sprite on 2005 before I went backpacking for the year.. Not to pay for the trip, just because having 2 cars waiting at home for me was just stupid.

F/B tilt forward bonnet, hot 1330cc engine, 'huge' 14x5 inch steel wheels that I had made and a whole lot of other goodies.

My red 1988 EA Spac.

My gf of the time (I was 17) decided to be a hoon when she borrowed it. Lost control on a roundabout, jumped a kerb and hit a parked car.
Fixed that then the tranny blew. Managed to trade it in for $1000 for a 98 EL.

Wish I kept it and stripped it down and started a project.

1982 XE ESP 5.8 4 speed.

Put 10,000 k's on it, sold it back to Alto Ford for 2k more than I paid for it.

Best car I ever owned.

I regret not buying a genuine xy gt for $500 it had matching compliance and engine numbers, lots of parts were missing tho, full interior had some cancer but I could have fixed it no gearbox and quite a bits gone under the bonnet, was pretty much a block an intake manifold and the heads, the rest was gone the shaker was in the boot at the time and was going to go with the car, no wheels either and no steering wheel, had grille no headlights if i had of bought it and just sat it in a shed somewhere and done nothing it would be worth shitloads more than $500 now

I'll put one in for my Dad:

1971 Torana XU1 he traded in for a Datsun 200B back in his day, him and his 2 best mates all had XU1s... He crapped himself when I showed him the value of them.
