Default Modifying a Bobtail

Hey all,

After having the XR50 kit fitted for a few months, i am starting to look for a spoiler\bobtail to match.

I have had a look at the AU bobtails available and they just won't fit the style of the kit.

So now what i have decided to do is to try to modify a DJR bobtail to fit my car.

how different is the curve in the boot lids on the BA and AU? very different, slightly different?

Here is a pic of the DJR bobtail

The BAs have a squarer bootlid, but as the spoiler is fibreglass, it might bend enough to fit the AU. Not sure about width though - RSpec may know as he's fitted a FPV spoiler to his AU bootlid.

That spoiler on the BA looks a bit like the AU classic spoiler anyway - might be easier to adjust the AU to suit your needs.

As you can see the B Series has a flat boot, the AU has a very curved style boot. IMHO you'd be better off getting a custom one made.

But then again if you really want the B Series bobtail to work go for it.

Have you had a look at the forte (please correct me if im wrong) bobtail?

-Cheers, Tom

AU classic spoiler would be much, much easier.

I have had a look at the classic one and I don't like the look of it, I might just buy a BA one and chop it up a bit and get it to fit, everyone else has made BA bodykit parts fit so I may as well try this!

do the t series cars have a differant bobtail, ie TE50, TS50 etc..? pretty sure i've seen that last spoiler on a futura today. looks like a pretty common item. are there other variations that ppl could post pics of just so we know all the options offered for the AU's?

It was offered as a no cost option from T1. Available spoilers series were:
1. XR spoiler (standard on T1 and t2)
2. Bob tail - now known as T series bob tail, but started life as standard fitment on futuras (but who'd admit to having a "futura bobtail")
3. Hawk rear wing - dealer fit option
4. T3 T series spoiler (standard fitment, with the above all optional)

The Futura and T series bobtail are subtly different, I'm pretty sure. Along the back edge is different, on one of them the spoiler sits flush against the edge of the boot, where are the other curves under. To be honest I cant remember which one goes on which car, but although they're virtually identical, they're ever so slightly different. Mind you, I doubt anyone could tell the difference at a glance.
