Default Fastest Production cars EVER

http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/fast.htm

Interesting compilation of cars here.....

Check this out:
1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray ZL1 427 V8 430 ** 10.6 132 MT
2003 Ferrari Enzo 6.0L V12 660 11.0 133.9 MT

It's just strange to see whats happening 30 years later.

Don't know about fastest but two "scary" items come to mind ..
1969 Dodge Polara 4-door sedan .. 440RB auto .. CHP tested 147mph (235km/h) top speed. Polyglass tyres and all!
1969 Dodge Daytona .. 426Hemi .. first 200mph (320km/h) lap at Talledaga (spelling?) super speedway. Back when stock cars were still effectively "stock cars".

Its funny though. The top 3 fastest cars on the list are all old school american muscle and they are all alot faster than any Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini. :eclipsee_

Thats more "Quick" than fast... to me fast is top speed. Quick is all about acceleration.

That's cool, but you know Steffo is going to question what is classed as a production car then quote some tuned Porsche. :Reverend: :

Well that site actually says " North America's Fastest Production Cars"

So its not quite 100% accurate as there are some quick cars in europe

Nope.. its not a 'production car' per say, but the 962 remains the fastest ever factory car 1/4 mile wise (until we get Veyron 16/4 specs.. its already beat the 962 top speed by 3km/h).

Though for production cars.. that list is a bit.. well, off the mark. Its probably just old and hasn't been updated but for production cars sold in America, both the Koenigesgg CC (10.1 1/4 mile) and Koenigsegg CCR (9.15 1/4 mile) should be the fastest on that list.

Gotta love those old big block hemi's though... 10.5 @ 130mph... in 1968.

Default What about the Ford muscle cars........

One of the fastest cars of all time came from Ford in the 1960's. It was the 427 FE powered Shelby Cobra's. You could but these from Ford dealers and did something like 0 to 100MPH and back to 0 in 13 seconds.

Well I would like to state publicly that a certain Aussie made 4 door car was listed in a 1970's version of the Guiness Book of Records as the fastest 4 door production car in the world.

You guessed it, it was our very own Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III, it is a beautiful thing. I used to have the copy of the book, but somehow it has gone missing - bugger

10's from the Yank cars. Those were the days where you could buy a car with a big

"NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE"

stickers on the dash/steering wheel.

I know that california has some of the strictest emmisions laws in the world, i'm pretty sure that the other states would have to run emmisions laws...
