Question AUII Premium Sound system removal

Hi All. I have recently purchased a 2002 auII LTD. I am attempting to fit a mobile phone kit to my car. The car came fitted with a mobile phone car kit. Before I remove this kit, I am trying to get the double din audio system removed to inspect the connections on the rear of the sound system unit.

At the moment, I am getting the unit out of the console. I have a workshop manual that tells me to use special tool xxxxxx, but then the manual says that I can use coat hanger wire to insert into the holes, push outwards and hey presto! I have tried some coat hanger wire (2 u-shaped pieces), pushed them outwards to no avail. The unit will not budge.

I am sure that someone on this forum has done this. Could anyone give me some tips?

Stu

And here is a few more picks for you , The trick is once the wire is in it has to be firm enough to be able to push out wards both ways to release the clips

Default Thanks

Thanks Guys. I will give it a go with some firmer wire. Does the wire need to have the points on it to work?

If you cut them on a bit off a angle it should do, long as they lock in . Just hope no one has been there before you and broke something off in the holes :
