Default Same Story but in Victoria

Hey Blokes, Just picked up a capri, yep the ebay one. with a windsor, c4, 9". Now I need to know if its still legal in vic to screw in a 302 windsor into a mk1 1971 capri. I am aware of brake upgrades, chassis kit etc. Can anyone, with all seriousness tell me if its still possible and point me at an engineer that wont laugh ?

Oh and who has a chassis kit layin round they wanna get rid of ?. Ever since the rod shop changed hands it has gone downhill and their prices have gone uphill.

Cheers
Doc

Hi Doc,

Which ebay Capri do you mean, there have been a few v8 ones lately (some quite nice ones too!).

I have a chassis kit that I've decided to get rid of, but I'm waiting to hear back from a guy who is interested. If he doesn't want it, it's available. It's never been fitted and is complete as delivered from CRS (minus the booklet which I can't find). For sale at a considerable saving from CRS's current list price.

email me if you're interested: radioactiveman1@optusnet.com.au

Cheers

Jamie

I know there are a few V8 capri's in the Vic Capri Car Club, I suggest you make contact there
also try http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=62

I am sure when whooligan sees this he will be able to point you in the right direction.

Doc, get the list of approved engineers from the Vicroads website and get in touch with them. We don't have any regs that would prevent this conversion in Vic (like NSW capacity to weight ratio), however I have heard a couple of years back that engineers were very antsy about approving conversions, as Vicroads were starting a campaign of going through all engineered vehicles to root out any that had let things through cracks or turned blind eyes to issues. Can't give a definitive yes or no on whether you will get it approved, but hopefully this is helpful.

. Thank you cozworthfreak, I have emailed you in regards to chassis kit.

Puzzlescort. thanks for that link mate, I am having a look round, dont seem to be much action there but will join up and lookit.

outback. Top idea, I usually play with big falcons that dont need engineers, this is for the sons girlfriend. I got the vicroads page, emailed a handful of them and already got a reply that says , "I would be happy to help you with your intended conversion" Tops.

Thank you one and all for your efforts so far. I look forward to gaining more info about the capri in times to come.

P.S what a hot little car !.

Since my name was mentoned, I thought I should reply.

If you are local to melbourne, come down to our next club meeting in January at Bells Hotel. Details are on the website. We have several V8 "experts" in our club and numerous members with V8 projects, including myself.

If you can't make it down to a meeting, I'd recommend you come to Small Ford Sunday in early Feb. All your questions will be answered on the day and there will be several V8 show car there to drool over. Its a must for all small ford fans.
