not 100% on where it was coming from, i know it was leaking on the driver side about half way between the back seat and the back of the car..

to fix it:
1. i took the wing off and covered the top and underside of the mounting holes with some silicon/glue stuff, i think it was called 'drip check', then put the wing back on.

2. i also drilled 3 small holes (inside the bootlid) below where the number plate sits on the bootlid to let any built up water escape. parking facing up hill seemed to help a bit.

the biggest fix, and most expensive was to buy a new house with a double garage to park in :

others have suggested new boot rubbers might help.

hope that helps
Thanks. I've put on a new boot rubber, fixed one type of leak, but as yet I've not applied any sealer to the wing holes. I'll do that one next week I expect, and I may drill a few holes also, just to be sure.

Thank's mate, it is in very good nic, just finding the time to enjoy her is the problem, I don't use her as a daily, as I don't like to park it at my place of work for many reason's, I'm sure people would know.
So weekend's and holiday's is about the only time I get to drive her.

October 2001 AUII SR Sedan. I bought it with 182,000 and now has 210,000, I bought it in April 2009 i think.

Exhaust leaks.
Split tank on radiator.
Diff bearings whining.
Very slight power steering rack weep.
Interior lights stay on all the time, Pulled fuse at the moment.

Apart from that its all been service items that have been replaced.

there are two rattles / squeeks.

one comes from the front of the dash (close to windscreen) where the two different bits of plastic come together. the two bits either need to be stuck together or held apart. i tried to pack them out with something but it didn't work.

the other noise comes from where the centre panel (radio, air con controls) meets the rest of the dash.

both noises come and go. i can drive the car for weeks without hearing it, then one day it will decide to rattle for the whole day. it didn't rattle when i test drove it, but when we had it inspected the nrma man said there was an annoying rattle but i thought he was just being picky :

2001 AU2 XR6 - bought 14 months ago with 55,000k's, now has 65,000.

Apart from changing the battery and spark plugs/leads, she's perfect.

August 02 XR8, bought 3 weeks ago with 67,***km, just clicked over 70,000 today.

Was a weekend car so got thrashed a bit- clutch and 2nd synchro not great.
Backlash
Boot strut mount rust- going out to fish oil it right now!
Cruise control -ve button need to press quite hard
Needs new leads

Dash does this strange thing where the tacho ticks like the second hand of a clock, rather than moving smoothly as it should. Doesn't always happen- mostly at higher revs.

Absolutely beautiful car- such a pleasure to drive.

2002 AU T3 38,000km no problems drives and goes like a new car should.
It is a sunny day cruise car and I intend to have it for many years to come so plenty of time to clock up the K's. New battery, and tyres otherwise its as it left Ford.

2001 AUII 146,000kms. Purchased Aug 08 with 112,000kms. Daily drive and family getaway.
Replaced ;
Power Steering Hose
Surprise surprise replaced alternator.
New Radiator (adrad copper & brass)
New stereo, old one decided when it would play cd's & I am the boss.

Overall a very good straight clean tidy car with no performance mods. Still has the Michelin MX1's from when I bought it. Brake discs are a bit warped but pads are still at about 60% so that can wait. Was always a holden person but am sold on the AUII......just a pleasure to get into and drive everyday.

Ex Wellington taxi, ticked over 547k yesterday, managed 760km from about 58 litres, 7.5 ish l/100km. Thats on our s hit house open roads, which aren't the best for economy. Still, not too bad considering shes just been run in. Would be interested to know what a tight <100,000 km AU would manage.

The only rattle I get is from the drivers seat belt buckle, when I'm not wearing it, so its not really an issue.
