found out something interesting today,
seems my oil cooler lines have rubbed a hole in my power steering line when the traction control light came on, then the low coolant light was flashing. thought it was strange as i dont have TC in the xr, and i knew my coolant was fine. pulled over an checked anyway and yep coolant was full. kept driving trying to work out what was going on, till i pulled over at a servo and checked all the fluids just to make sure. and power steering was empty. topped it up and kept driving. ill get some prices first thing tomorrow, but as soon as i put fluid in the lights all went away. just thought id put this up incase it happens to anyone else.

Interesting, ill have to keep an eye on mine. Funnily enough though, checked the power steering fluid tonight and found that it was very low, and im fairly sure theres a leak around the oil cooler lines as well!

Funny you say that. About 3 months ago my engine oil cooler lines actually rubbed through my auto trans pipe. Once i worked out why there was white smoke under the hood it was a tow home job. Maybe it's a good idea for any 220kw AU owners to keep an eye out for this occurance.

My power steering fluid is leaking at an annoyingly fast rate at present. Im fairly certain its coming from a lower hose connection that connects 2 hoses together at a point where the hose is held up by a metal loop bracket.
Ill check for hoses rubbing eachother now too, got me worried. |

Noticed how close they sit to each other when I put the engine into the XR, nothing a little gentle persuasion couldn't fix though

I've run out of power steer fluid before and no lights told me anything
