Sony playstation portable

Just bought a playstation portable and would like to download some songs on to the memory card to listen too, but there is one problem. I have no idea how to do it.
I have a USB cord etc but dont know how to copy some of my music cds, turn them into mp3 format and then get them on to PSPortable.

When i plug the USB cord into my computer and PSP it says that its looking for a driver for the PSP, does it need one or what. HELP.

P.S. please don't laugh at me............ new technology scares me. hehehe

Did the plug come with a disc?

If so put the disc in and it should say install or something along those lines. If it doesn't go to "my Computer" on the desktop and go into the CD drive. Should be an install file in there.

nah man the USB cord is from my digi camara setup. no setup disc or nothin with the Playstation.

If you've got winamp you just put it in and on media libary you go the the drive the cd is in and select rip, really easy.

It's Far more difficult than it sounds mate when you have the problem that this guy's describing. Very frustrating too to hear comments like that as well, as the same thing happened to me last night with my PSP, and there was nothing at ALL I could do about it but listen to the people telling me to read the instructions.

Whats wrong with the PSP? It was a non supported USB Cable. The PSP is very temporamental with what USB cord it will decide to work with so try getting another one. I had to buy a totally different cable this morning and all is fine now!

I just use either my digital camera usb cable or my iriver cable to connect it and have no problems. Ok what you want to do is not in the instruction manual so thats really no help to you at all.

A) If your songs you want to transfer are from cds then all you need is windows media player or winamp and you can change to rip them onto your computer as (MP3) instead of Windows Media format which will work only if you have the latest firmware on ur PSP which you won't.

B) If the songs are already on your comp and are not mp3 format you can use a program to convert them (I use iTunes, very easy)

Once you have them on your pc in the right format just connect the PSP (from the menu) and open the PSP Drive in My Computer (should be F: or G

. From there you double click on the second folder to the one with many folders named games, music, video ect. Copy the Music in the (MUSIC) folder and disconnect and they should be on there! enjoy

This isn't quite the correct thread, but its all I could find.

Does anyone here have one? Do you still use it? What games are good?

I bought one today, and I'm a big bastard and find it very slightly too small. Other than that, I got Twisted Metal and Midnight Club. Not that excited having played Midnight Club, but Twisted Metal was a favourite on the PS1.

Generate a bit of talk on these cool lottle devices?

I've used data cables from a PDA, a Digital Camera and the PSP one ofcourse..as long as its the right connection, you should be fine. Just make sure you navigate to the USB Icon on the PSP to intiate the Connection. It will install its drivers onto your computer without u having to click a think

I got one aswell , it's not mine I got it for my 7yo son,
RIP your CD, use windows media player ...when you have all your songs on your HDD plug in your PSP and the card in it should register as a drive on your computer...you can then drag and drop the songs to your PSP
If that dont work ,remove the MEM Card from PSP and put it into a card reader an write to it that way.

better yet, get a USB "on the go" drive (steno) and wack a HDD in it, and then download the iso's of the games, and ummmm well you get the idea...

Used this for plane trips (o/s). and for countries that I could not understand language on the TV

as far as mp3's go, ipods do a better job.

the psp is good for games (some) and movies. I have this in my ute for camping

To rip movies (dvd's), use nero recode. rips em to under a gig.
memory cards have come down heaps, so might be worth buying a 2 gig one

hmm I dont see the value in these things to be honest.

yeah they are kinda cool, but they grapics are not that good, you have to buy special cds for it and you cant upgrade it.

The only time I can think of it being handy would be on a plane.

I think ill stick to the PS2. or better yet, the PS3 when that comes out.

Heh funny you talk about 'value', 'special' discs, etc then say you're getting a PS3?

$1000, Blu-Ray discs, enough said.

Sony should quite while they're ahead with the PS2.. the PSP is a joke, and the PS3 is going to be the same. Expensive gimmicks trying to cram every single possible media-related object into one overpriced piece of shiny plastic.

PSP Is better than any other hand held console on the market, and it can do far more...and you dont have to have an expensive CD to update, just jack into a wireless internet point. What other handheld consoles do you know that have a HD LCD Screen, can play great games, movies, music, jack into online multiplayer games and access WiFi Hotspots as well as play Music?...i cant think of one. Unless you can say from personal experience that the PSP is crap and not just listen to a bunch of geeks ranting on and regurgitate what they say...i wont take your comments Seriously PH..

For some of us, not having to lug arround a game boy, Mp3 Player and DVD Player and have basic internet access is a big plus.
