G'day fellas,
My XR8 has had this issue for years. Some days it OK(just a little) then others it's not good. The go fast pedal has to be forced down to get it to go. It seems that there's a lot of resistance when you ease off to zero acceleration then try to put your foot down. You can't ease on the power. You have push it harder then she launches. Every other way it feels normal. Doesn't get stuck on. Any ideas? Have tried a few things. All moving points lubed in some way from pedal to throttle body. Inside throttle body cleaned.

Maybe the throttle cable is stretched or kinked

Try changing the throttle spring on the throttle body and see if that fixes it

I'd check teh action of the cable through the firewall, and the action at the TB. My guess is something is fouling the linkage at the TB end.

Check your cable for broken wire strands jamming in the outer sheathing.

Dave,
I have the same issue mate, TB cleaned/cable and mech compents lubed, spring replaced, even had a machnic try to re run the path of the cable (bad move, back to normal now). I seem to get this problem more so when the car is cold, eg in the morning or very late at night. Let us know how you go, and if i get it fixed in the mean time will give you a post |

Weird stuff hey. Replaced the harmonic balancer due to car dying and vibrating at low revs. The sticking throttle has dissapeared with the new balancer. Low down power now is like a new car. It must have been struggling down low for ages and somehow causing the sensation of a sticking throttle. The XR8 got the left top engine mount plate replaced when two new replacement bolts were being put in and that too has improved the smooth feel. I forgot what the car felt like when new. Very
