I think it looked OK just the wave in the last photo she starts to get a bit high.
If she is an auto it's safer than a manual to attack deep water.

I remember many years ago I did the same thing in a ZL lane what was a massive deterrent at the time was the fact that on either sides off the floodwater was dead cars that the water had clearly claimed - despite this I was confident my ZL lane with its abhove rocker cover mounted plenum chamber and high airflow sensor would make it and I was right the sucka SEALED too no water got into that car the satisfaction I got when the guys in the newer stato seen me drive right on through will be burned into my memory till the day I die - car may have been crap with a very floaty ride less power than a three legged donkey but I made it 5 others that tried had failed and god knows how many others turned back...

By luck(?) I happened to be there at almost the same time as Turbotaxi. The water was NOT flowing, it was merely overflow from the Macquarie River that came up faster than most people thought.

On my way into Dubbo at about 9:00 I was told over the UHF that there was a 'bit' of water over the road.

It is a major Hwy and in over 30yrs of driving this road I have never seen it over the road at this point.
So neither Turbotaxi, or anyone else, had time to put a tarp over anything, and walking through it first would be plain ridiculous (to say nothing of getting run over or drenched by annoyed Truckies

), there would not be any washed away sections (other than the usual Dubbo shire potholes) as the water was not moving.

There is also a point where you are committed. You cant stop because the bow wave you've created will flood the engine compartment. You cant reverse because someone is behind you and you cant turn around as you don't have room.

I think Turbotaxi has lived in this area -where creek crossings outnumber bridges- long enough to know when to go and when to quit.

As long as there are cars in front passing through, then don't see why you wouldn't.

Just have to be smart and keep momentum going. Of course it's best to avoid it where possible because if your car stalls then you're pretty much stuck.

This is what my comment on being committed was about. I had shifted to first to keep the RPM's up to keep water out of the tailpipe, it wasnt like I could do a 3 point turn as gasolane had said to stop midway would have sloshed water much higher in the engine bay.

No, I have not. But I have seen what happens when I push too much boost into an engine without retarding the timing.... I am guessing its a similar effect.
