Default BMW F10 M5 leaked

Leaked from http://transmissia.net/transfocator/02.04.11/8300.html who broke the embargo.

I will miss that V10 goodness but this does look the goods.
Hopefully it handles like the old e39 M5, regarded as one of the finest handling sedans of its time.

Yeah sorry the link is russian and no I can't translate it
I provided it as a source.
Yes unfortunately it will replace the V10 but I am sure the V8TT will be another ball tearing engine provided by BMW's M division as usual.

The older 5 series / M5 is so much nicer than this one. The last one has a subtle aggressive look about it which this one doesn't look like it does. The current 5 series is too much of a babied down 3 series IMO.

Chrome Translated it for me..

Quote:
One of the most anticipated new products this year, the updated BMW M5 Concept was officially shown the press at a presentation organized on April 1 in Munich, along with the most powerful pickup BMW M3 Pick-up . The Germans have tried as much as possible to keep the intrigue over the concept and pulled the veil from the car last.
All the same specifications of the future flagship sedan BMW M5 producer left in secret and promised to reveal them at the Shanghai Auto Show. From the look of predseriynogo concept can note the development of an aerodynamic body kit, which is characteristic for the Bavarians grille, the rapidity of body lines and cast black wheels with low profile tires.

Default BMW confirms M5 with 4WD

Quote:
BMW has acknowledged that a four-wheel-drive version of its new M5 is being lined up.

BMW’s new rival to the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, revealed at the recent Shanghai show, uses a 552bhp twin-turbocharged V8 motor and features a typically conservative body kit with sinister-looking 20in wheels.

BMW is keen to hold back exact details about the car, but officials have confirmed that there are moves to eventually produce a four-wheel-drive version of the M5.

However, insiders have denied that the company is considering producing a long-wheelbase version of the car specifically for the Chinese market.

“The long-wheelbase platform is reserved for standard versions of the 5-series sold in the Chinese market,” said one source. “There are no existing plans for an M5 on this structure.”

Set for UK delivery in April 2012, following the unveiling of the definitive production version at the Frankfurt motor show later this year, the new M5 is said to possess greater straight-line performance than its predecessor while delivering an impressive 25 per cent reduction in fuel consumption.

These gains can be attributed, in part, to the adoption of a Getrag-engineered seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox and a range of other measures from BMW’s Efficient Dynamics portfolio, including automatic stop-start, brake energy recuperation and on-demand ancillary functions for the water pump.

I'd guess them to be water-to-air intercoolers.

Magnificent car.
With AWD they could add power; looking forward to seeing that regardless of any power increase.

Polyal, all that mess in the engine bay is courtesy of the turbos being placed in the V.

I like the 680Nm available from 1500rpm through to 5750rpm and the 412kw between 6000rpm and 7000rpm.
All from a 4.4lt V8 that sips only 9.9l/100km

^^^ Enough small "Torque" why not have 410KW and 799nm available over a similar range and decent styling thrown in as well
Link to review of the M Benz CLS63 AMG.

Seriously the styling of this new M5 is so ultra conservative, yeah all kudos to BMW, we all know the M5 is one of the very finest ultra high performance sedans in thw world it but if you're going to spend that sort of coin wouldn't you want some cutting edge style as well ?

No..the M5 is never been out there in terms of design, it has always been conservative and that is how it should always be, that is how their market wants it. The same goes for the E63.

I love the understated sytling. It's almost like its the same as every other BMW on the road, but somehow manages to stir up some lusty emotions anyway.
It's just enough to make you look twice as you realise, after the first look, that it's not the stock model.

This has now replaced my desire for an E63 AMG... never liked the E60 shape and the E39 will always go down as one of the most understated yet utterly awesome M5's ever built, but this has style/power and im sure in trueness to any M car handles how no 4door sedan should.

Now I just need to take the CEO position at work and call lease plan :P

Wheels look a little GT 335 ish.

I'm suprised they didn't tweak the power much higher over the X5M, only 4kw. Initial reports had power to be over 425 to maybe 450.

I was expecting it to look a little tougher. Doesn't seem to have the menace of previous M5's.
