Default Vfacts August 2011

Things to take note of when the data is released:

Territory - will the new model continue the strong start?
Falcon - EcoLPI was delayed so will not figure in this data. Another sub-2000 month.

Cruze - how close will it get to the Commodore?

I can honestly say that I have seen more new territories on the road these past two weeks than I have new FPV's since the new V8 was released. Not a direct comparison I know, but it appears the territories are selling quite well

Mondeos too. I have seen many new ones in the past three weeks, way more than in previous months.

I'm seeing Mondeos everywhere I go now. I don't blame the public for buying them; they're a great car in so many respects.

I expect Mondeo to come second in its segment to Camry this month.

Edit: From my observations at least, the Mondeo seems to have a great 'word of mouth' reputation that, unfortunately, the Falcon doesn't seem to enjoy, even though it deserves to. Those that have heard of the Mondeo either rave about how good the car is or say something to the effect of "What's that like? I hear some great things about it".

Deserves to fail. It offers nothing over the LV Focus. From my observations at least, the takeup rate hasn't been very strong. I've only ever seen the one in the wild (hatch, on the Victoria Bridge).

My opinion of the new Focus is the Titanium is overpriced..$38k driveaway???
The other models are priced competitively..The salesman said "the price reflects the European quality and technology" at that price, I would be looking at a Mondeo Zetec. I know you don't pay retail but if you got it down to $36k..its still exxy for a mid size car.. Its up against the Kia Optima, i45, Suzy's Kizashi etc..Ford are going to have a hard time selling the Titanium, at that price. I expect it might be dropped within a year, like the Focus Ghia was.Shame, nice car..wrong price.

Because it is a car built for the masses, i.e families etc. The V8's are targeted at an increasingly small crowd. In fact, the slow take up of miami powered FPV's should almost ensure that no more development takes place, the costs involved versus sales volume does not justify it.

No.

However, so many reviews state that the Focus has lost its edge. The exceptional steering feel of the LV has been dulled down considerably. The Focus appears to have lost its 'edge', the very aspect of it that placed it head and shoulders above others in the class.

What's with diesel and sedan being auto (yeah, I know) only?

Personally I love the new Focus, it is much easier on the eyes than the godforsaken Mazda 3, a very stylish and sophisticated little car full of fancy gadgets. A massive leap over the last one.

The front of the new Focus looks better than the Mazda 3, however the rear of the new Focus, both sedan and hatch, makes me physically ill every time I see one.

Well I've driven one and I think it drives much better then many of the LS, LT, LV's I have driven previously.

I would pay $36 kay for the Diesel Titanium, its basically a Mondeo Titanium in a smaller body, its all relative.. Mondeo Titanium is 10 kay more.

Even the base models are a better car to drive then the old LV, more power, quieter and the build quality smacks LV in the face (minus LV XR5)....

I drove a Diesel Titanium also and can say I was very impressed. I own an LV XR5...Will wait to the new ST to update...but was very tempted by the Titanium Diesel. I was surprised how much it didn't sound like a diesel and the torque that the thing has, is well....much like the XR5 actually.

cars that cost more to run are always going to suffer during a period of economic downturn and uncertainty, i would`nt write them off just yet, we are not short of uncertainty at the moment, in fact ......i will bet there will be a bit of a revival in the large car market in the next two years, i won`t say more than that ;).

Whats the point of having an 'edge' if your smashed in sales each month by your competitors. Give the masses a 'dulled down' car selling 1500+ a month over a 'sharp' car that barely cracks 1000.

On the auto, god alone knows. I like manuals, but buy auto's. Its the way the masses are leaning. With auto technology getting better and better, soon it will be the only option.

It's not all about sales figures, it's about profit per unit. Ford is charging more for the new Focus so we can assume they are making more profit especially on the higher end models.

You can certainly pick one up for under $38k, in fact there's about fifty nationwide under $36k...

Yes that's right, my apologize, that's what I was getting at. Profit @ the potential cost of some enthusiasts. Profit is king in business, providing the great products continue and they (ford) can start rebuilding consumer confidence in the brand, I can see a bright future for the blue oval

The new Focus pricing is actually pretty good compared to 10 years ago.

2002 Focus Ghia sedan auto = $31,470. Power = 85 kW.
2012 Focus Titanium sedan auto = $32,590. Power = 125 kW.

So in 10 years, price increase of only $1120. Yet power increase of 47% and a tonne more standard equipment.

The cheapest diesel Focus you can buy is over $34,000 on the road,
You can get an i30 diesel for around $22,500 drive away.
I know the Focus is better but is it $12,000 better?

I think Moderators should not permit "V Facts" threads that have no data in the first few posts,
that specific title should be subject to approval by moderators because it applies to monthly data
that a lot of people are waiting to see...

Starting a thread on the first of the month is pointless, it normally takes the Federated
Chamber of Commerce and Industry around two to three working days to release sales data.

Exactly. I get all excited thinking there's sales data but all there is is BS debate about what will be.
