Default who uses a trans brake?

I use a FMX but have been offered to try out a transbrake equipped c4 to see if I like it. The question is what drop in 60' times and 1/4 mile ET have you seen using a trans brake compared to a normal stalled up launch.

it all depends on grip, tyres used, stall speed, power, brakes, etc etc. A street car with close to stock power will not make much difference. In a high horsepower drag car with slicks and littlies up front will drop a second or two off the time.

For example - a street car on street tyres will just blow the tyres off with a trans brake, so making it slower or exactly the same.
My xa coupe can't hold the power and the grip from the rear tyres without the trans brake, so i drop over half a second using one.

So give us some more details of what you want to run it in and we help give you and idea of the difference

Basically, if your car is setup to run the 1/4 mile and you already have the correct converter it won't change your times!!!! It is basically for consistancy as you leave at the exact same rpm's every single pass! If you're changing from fmx to c4 you will see some change one way or the other. I used a c4 for quite a while with no brake then went to it and picked up hundredths.

If you can't hold the car on the brake, then it WILL improve the times if you have traction

I use a trans brake and absolutelly love it. Just makes it so easy to get revs right and test with alot more certainty of what changes you are making.
Im running a 1.5 60 foot

highly recomend transbrake

Best 60 without it is 1.42 and 1.38 off the brake and a 2 step. You really need the 2step with a transbrake to get the consistancy out of it.

its a kit that needs the trans to be pulled apart and rebuilt with the solenoid built in. They are specific to the trans you have (ie you can't use a generic kit). The major speed suppliers have them

EB 6 on Boost with forged turbo motor just kills the C4 ''
10.5 X 28 slicks...
Going Powerglide, aftermarket case etc..
He was holding fairly high rpm and boost..
Two rebuilds in short time he gave it away..
550+ RWKW with decent torque kills them..

Dominello wouldn't fit a trans brake on Jamie's Fairmont due
to strength issues..
Should be o/k on lighter car such as Cortina..

I tried a trans brake in my high 9 second capri in the 90s it didn't have tubs and was on the limit of traction, I found it was slower since I couldn't load up the suspension and the weight transfer wasn't as good as holding it on brakes and making the noise dip down, It hit pretty hard make sure you have good axles, I'm sure with heaps of traction it would be great,

you can get a switch to turn it on n off also, just so you can't accidentally hit it. the transbrake only works it first gear, it won't lock in any other gear.
