Default can i class my xr8 as a fpv?

hi all. Need some opinions on my xr8. its a bf 06, 6speed auto 260boss. Its in yellow she is stock as.just got some fake fpv rims. Waiting to get tyers for now. Any way this has made my think can i class my car as a fpv it has it on one of the plates saying ford performance vechicle. So would it be wrong of me to turn it in to one what i mean is by putting fpv cluster badges ect.on it or will this go bad with some. All opinions welcome. Thanks gazza

You can make it look how you like man, it's your car. But no matter what it looks like it won't be an FPV, just a modified Ford XR8.

its your car, do what you want to it. shouldnt let others decide for you

but imo, it will never be a 'real' fpv.

You can do whatever you like to your car, and adding cluster, rims ect ect will enhance its look to you. But at the end of the day, it will still be a xr8 and nothing more.

Well in my opinion, no you cannot class an XR8 as an FPV because it was sold as a Ford, not an FPV. However, you can do what you like with your car. Just know that many people will frown upon 'fake' badging. Nothing beats the blue oval badge in my opinion anyway.

Do what you like but if you ask me an XR8 is more special then an FPV now... Since they no longer manufacture them!

Id try and keep it stock, perhaps adding features / options it may have had back in its time rather then spending money on junk like clusters and FPV badges....

The XR8's Boss 260 was built by FPV.

FPV screw all the Boss engines together hence the FPV DNA.

An XR8 is a nice car in its own right.......give it it's own character with some nice mods. Don't ruin it by trying to make it an FPV specific vehicle. It's up to you of course , but there,s nothing to be ashamed about in owning an XR8.

Being a BF it will have a fpv engine number even though it's not a fpv. From what I've read, the boss engines were assembled by fpv whether they were fpv's or xr8s. It's your car to badge however you want but it's pretty easy to spot a fake. I'd keep it as an xr8 as there are no more coming out of the factory...

I would say no. A mate of mine has a WRX with STI pretty much everything, but its still not an STI, just as a modified XR8 is not an FPV.

You could get away with calling the WRX an STI, but Ford and FPV are separate brands and not transferable as far as I'm concerned.

ok, ill throw this one at you all. My Gs. Sep 2009 FPV badging, cluster, starter button, rims. Xr8 interior, body kit, brakes. Now on the original sales paperwork listed as XR8. I think all this crap with ford or fpv is a joke. Back in the day the GT's were FORD. I have got Ford badges all over my XAGT. Think its up to the person to decide. Personally I think Tickford/FPV just a marketing rip off to match the hsv name plate. Still ford or holden underneath it all. It's your car mate, do what you want with it

A better comparison would be those Executives with Clubsport kits and HSV badges. People can do what they like IMO, but it'll never be a substitute for the real thing.

this

i can actually understand the reasoning behind putting chev badges on a chev powered holden, but on a rattletec or similar its a bit suss..

heel, holden guys have been doing it since someone realised the chev motor fit in the same space as the holden ...

If you want too put FPV badges on it do it!! unless people have a real good look at the car and know what there on about who'll know!! I actually want too go the other way around and get a new FPV GS ute and make it a trayback and put Ford and XR8 badges on it. something different and will make some people wonder did ford make a FG XR8 trayback

FPV and HSV are genuine assembly plants in their own right.......sure they get the donor car from FORD / HOLDEN - but the Go fast bits are researched / managed / assembled by the SKUNK works.....its a little bit more than an S pack badge.........lol

It may be up to the person to decide what to do with their car.....granted.........people can do what they like to fool themselves......its their perogative and their right to do what they like with their hard earnt.......would you swap your XAGT with an XA GS.......they're both the same underneath hey........

No disrespect here to owners of XR8's.......I love em. They are a beautiful looking car in their own right and a great street car.

Of course its a FPV...

1. Engine put together by FPV on the same turntable as the GT engines.

2. B series FPVs actually come out with Ford Badges front and rear.

3. Surely a GT or F6 doesnt go to FPV in a million pieces, its 95% assembled by Ford before it gets near FPV, just like the XR8 is exluding motor like a GT.

4. What does a GT have more? Motor is assmbled like XR8 at FPV (be it different bits), different front and rear bars and a few logos on the seats.

5. Check out the registration papers, it says FPV on them on engine/chasis number!!!

Its a Ford, not an FPV.
you can justify it however you want.

Cams / valves / valve springs / compression / BLUEPRINTING / engine tune..........yep it's all the same.......

Same suspension - same double outlet exhaust - same wheels and chassis set up..........yep it's all the same........

Same Brembo brakes and rotors - straight out of the factory......yep....identical.........

And the most Important factor of all.......drive each one...stock for stock........the difference will be more than obvious after that.......not to mention the way you feel.....can't be easily measured of course.....but not easily forgotten.
