Default A drive by me Dealer's yard is depressing.

On Sunday afternoon when getting fuel I thought I would just call at my local Ford dealer to have a look at the stock on the lot and in the showroom. A year ago when I bought my FG there where many Falcons new, used and FPV on show indoors.

This time basically none, new cars full of Focus RS (like 10) and Fiesta (like many). Only one turbo on the new car lot and one G6. Inside I could only see one car in the showroom and I don't think it was an FPVwhen there used to be 3 or 4.

Now this is an old dealership with 2 sites in Adelaide and they sell another brand as well. Their service centre is always busy and my comments are not a reflection on the dealer.

I sure hope I caught them awaiting new falcons but I suspect the worse. Saddens me.

Same thing in QLD, our local Ford dealer is full of Focus, Mondeo's, Fiesta's with only a few falcons tucked away at the back

Yup - out local ford dealer rarely has an FPV, or xr6t, or g6e, or anything of interest as a test driver.

I have 2 ford dealers local to me and drive past both of them frequently and there loaded with falcons and rangers more then anything else. And there both in inner'ish Melbourne suburbs.

I was at City Ford a couple of months back with a friend who wanted to buy a new FGII XR6. None there to test drive. Not one 6 cylinder auto FGII of any variant was there to be test driven. Plenty of Focuses (Foc-i?) though. They had "one" new Falcon that was currently "away" with the manager and would be back in a couple of weeks. Got palmed off to the used section where some greaseball almost got himself punched in the face but that's another story.

And they wonder they they're not moving Falcons.

When the new fg came out I was in a position to buy a new ute. I rang all the local dealersips (read 150 km radius around newcastle), firstly to get a price, second for a test drive. I was stuffed around with the prices, and a test drive was too dificult to organise. So I can see the OP's point. But when the new Ranger came out the closest dealer (and the smallest locally) had a candy apple red, fully optioned Ranger parked so to the street you had to swerve to miss it driving along the highway. Falcon sales decline ? Why?

Was this dealer Maughan Thiem Ford out on port road? If so they had all there FPV stock out on display at the birdwood mill for the All Ford Cruise on Sunday, hence why the showroom was empty of any falcons.

When I was looking for a XR6T, or XR8 went to a fairly newish large dealer in my area. Asked if they had any XR6T, BA BF or FG, they did not have 1. Asked if they had any XR8, BA BF GT, they said they had nothing. Only thing they had was a FG GT. Was not looking for a brand new GT.

As I was walking out into the driveway, right in front of me a BA GT. This was parked in the Mazda car lot. Went over took it for a test drive and purchased the car.

So moral of the story, Mazda had the Ford I was looking for while the dealership next door who shares the same driveway as the Ford dealership had nothing.

Lol you can't blame the ford dealer for not having the right second hand car you wanted.

I would have got a brand new FG XR6T or FG XR8, but they had none in stock, could not even test drive one.

The BA GT cost as much as a brand new XR6T back then.

They did have a few XR6 and XT, but nothing I was looking for.

Didnt Ford reduce the amount of Falcons they were producing monthly as of November??. I think they changed the production run to include less Falcons and more Territorys. I remember buying my FG at the height of the GFC when there were a lot of vehicles lying around, was able to negotiate pretty hard. I think most manfacturers were burnt and try to minimise the amount of in stock vehicles they have lying around these days, or at least compared to what they used to have.

Decreased supplies won't have impacted at dealerships yet, it's only been 2 weeks.

Same here. A friend of mine is looking to upgrade but doesn't want to buy new. The used car yard only has territories and XR6s at best. They have even resorted to parking a new R spec out the front to pull people in

I don't understand ...... wouldn't you stock what was selling and is more popular? They are not there to promote Fords products but to turn a profit. It is up to FoA to do the promotional ground work on behalf of the dealers.

Tend to agree. If i was in the position of buying a brand new car i would order it in the exact colour combination & spec level i wanted, and wait for it to be built, unless they had something on the lot that was close enough to what i wanted, and suitable discount to "take it now" was offered. It's a catch-22 when it comes to stocking new cars, you won't have what the customer wants, &/or you've gotta discount to get rid of them....better to order them in as needed, unless the customer is impatient it can be a tough job to shift floor stock...

But after saying that, i've already sworn that i will never buy a new car ever again, and a secondhand buyer has no right to complain if the car he wants is not available...

But no as per usual AFF style it's all about going out your way to post anything negative that comes to mind, didn't bother to ask the dealer where the falcons were, just assumed the worst lol

Might have been a good idea for the dealer to have placed a sign in the showroom "We apologize for only having limited new vehicle stock today - but our quality products are currently being displayed at ......... car show (located at........)"
Kudo's to the Dealer for supporting the Cruise.

And to prove my point here is another thread in true AFF style headed "R Spec Limited Edition - Are they struggling to sell them?" http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11382421

My comment on that thread was as below

Why not? Where are they all - 350 of them ?

How about you get us some facts of how many have been sold rather than see 2 cars in a showroom or 10 cars on car sales and think omg they are not selling.
So basically we have here:-

1. Not enough cars in the showroom - Ford must be doing it tough
2. Too many cars in the showroom - Ford must be doing it tough

All 3 of my local dealers are chock full of FG Falcons of various guises. Usually there will be an XR6T or 2 in the mix, not alot. Plenty of new FPVs in the showrooms. Plenty of Focii and Fiesta there too. Dont see much in the way of Mondeos.

Ummmm, no i disagree. I want to drive it before i buy it. In fact, if i was not going to buy a BAGTP, but then i took the demonstrator home for the night. I fell in love and wanted one as a result. No demo - not interested in buying one. Sorry.
As for looking - it is the best advertisement for the vehicle to actually have one sitting there to show a customer, even if he won't buy one now. I am an emotive buyer. I am often only curious about buying, but if i drive soemthing that makes me go "wow", well then my money is ready to be spent

Oh very well put. The only small issues are:

1 There was no indication anywhere at the premises that there even was an All Ford Cruise happening. Nor any mention that they were involved and

2 It was closed. All locked up. Not a soul to be seen. Kinda hard to ask in that situation.
