We'll go elsewhere.
Ford Oz tried building Lasers here from 1981-1994. In 81 it made sense, around the time of the fuel crisis. By 94 however, Ford was still selling Falcons in large numbers and it made more financial sense to import their small cars from overseas.

They were way ahead of the game, but then it changed, and now it's changed again...however Australia, and the rest of the world is now a very different place.

Just what I suspected about Graziano. So it's no surprise if Graziano orchestrated the closing of Ford Discovery Centre. Graziano will be my new cuss word .

At the end of the day, why couldn't Ford have moved production of Falcon and Territory, or at least Territory only, to Thailand. Would any of us forum members still consider Falcon and Territory if they were made in India, China or Thailand? Falcon was never given a chance. Having seen the FG in various states of disassembly, I can't even see any evidence of LHD design 'protected'. It does not look any more LHD compatible than the BA. Was this canned during FG development?
Most forum members are only interested in cheap, second hand, true blue Aussie Falcons.

They'd never buy a new, aggressively priced, well appointed, foreign Falcon.

He didn't promise it, Tom Gorman did.

Two questions on my mind after reading latest Wheels.
In it they say the H-point of the FG is a weakness, and it would require "considerable cost" to fix, is this because it would require crash testing?
Also I'm reading $103million is the budget for FH- Is this the total budget? or just the costs for the efficiency measures outlined in the co-investment thing?

When I look at the two together...the FG2 is still fresh looking against the VF, quite remarkable.

So I have good faith that the FU is going to be a winner in the looks stakes, that must count for something

Im hoping Graziano's comment on the FH is a case of "understate and over deliver"

They've done it before, prior to FG's release the then president of Ford Australia was calling it nothing but a re-skin, he basically talked down the car- then when it came out it was obvious it was far more comprehensive than a re-skin, but the damage had already been done to the perception of the car and to this day many people still think that FG is just a BF with new styling. I don't understand what is wrong with these clowns, which business schools taught them to talk down future products to the national media before they are released? Nobody can be that moronic, which leads me to believe that they didn't want Falcon to sell.

Based on a comparo in Wheels, Calais V V8 Vs G6E Turbo, then i'd say it shouldn't be a problem.

Calais V got 8.5 stars, G6ET got 8. So the VF probably isn't the massive leap forward everyone thought it would be.

In the flesh does't exist yet. Prototypes will be built soon.

Design studio models exist, as do extremely realistic renders that can be viewed on a cinema sized 4K screen.

The new VF SS may be nice inside packed with new tech and advanced driving features, but as long as I'm on boost in my stock '09 FG turbo falcon with a brilliantly smooth ZF gearbox he will be looking at my rear bumper... I just hope he has the new fandangal front demister on so he can get a clear look...

In short, the drivetrain is almost perfect anyways and the FGII perfected the DSC and improved the ICC, now just add a facelift, some Focus features, and ill lay down my hard earned money for a new one...

In what context do they use the point about H-Point? Who says it's a weakness? Wheels or Ford? Massive difference.

The H-Point (Hip Point) pretty much defines every other attribute of the car, from aerodynamics and ergonomics to leg room etc. If you change a H-Point, you would need to pretty much go through every design phase and crash test again.

H-Point would be a hard point that is set very early on in the design of any vehicle.
