Default resetting base idle

Hi guys,
sorry to bring this subject up again but I am having a problem setting my base idle. After disconnecting the iac and placing a 075mm feeler between the idle adjusting screw and the throttle stop plate, when I start the car, the car revs very very high. I don't think it should be reving that high. Am I doing something wrong in the process? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I often find that connecting my iac provides a better idle. Do you have a reason to disconnect it?
