warped the head on my ea need help with timing marks on crank and cam chain slipped

you'll need to remove timeing cover while head is off and realign them , they have marks on them, good luck

I too am curious about this as i'm putting a motor together, how are they aligned ? If the motor is at TDC, the mark on the cam gear sits about 3mm above the head or something ?
If anyone could give a detailed write up of what to do including the tensioner etc that would be great. |

yep thats right, at TDC, the cam gear notch will be at the 3 o'clock position. I dont use timing marks as they are often out or wrongly set. Its better to just remove the rocker cover, remove #1 spark plug and shove a 30cm wire rod down the hole to find TDC for #1. U can find it by watching the valves for that cylinder. Dizzy cap should be off also so that ign timing is on the correct stroke!
