Default Brisbane - infringement notice

Just wondering if anyone has any advice regarding a notice I received today. While it's not big bucks I can't help but feel I've been made guilty without even knowing what I had done.

The offence is "contrary to official traffic sign no stopping". Now it's in suburbia off a main road but it doesn't actually give the number or location along that road.

Nor the sign I didn't see? So how am I to rectify my behaviour if I am not sure of what I have done wrong? Norris there any photo of the offence occurring?

This is the first time, other than the odd speeding fine, so it's a bit left field.

I do want to get out of paying it but I genuinely don't know what I have done wrong.

Can I ask for them to provide evidence? Surely they can't just be so vague in the description and to what they are claiming?

Don't they have to pull you over at the time of the offence for that?

I'm sure you could ask them for more info.

This happened to me once about 10 years ago where I got a parking ticket in Elizabeth Street. I was racking my brain to see why I would have been parked in Elizabeth Street when I realised that I had just pulled over to drop someone off. A council worker obviously saw me and send me a ticket in the mail.

Sounds like a council fine for parking in a no stopping area.
I imagine they take photos of the offence? They do around here.

i would say you have stopped, or allegedly stopped in a 'no stopping' or 'no parking' zone or clearway or something.

You weren't dropping off/picking up kids near a school? My sister used to get fines mailed to her for doing that.

No, if contested usually they will have a photo or goes on their word.

In QLD there doesnt need to be a sign, the "sign" is a painted unbroken yellow line on the road adjacent to the footpath. I am not sure as to exactly what your fine is for but by what you say then you may have stopped or parked on a yellow line.

Sorry had to laugh at that.

More than likely the council parking nazis got you briefly stopping on a yellow line.
