Lately I've noticed coolant dissapearing and I don't know where it's going to. There is no oil in the coolant/coolant in the oil and no leaks because fitted a new radiator and hoses a couple of months ago. The car never overheats...even in traffic on hot days with the air con on it gets to O in normal on the temp gauge.
I really don't know where else to look.

Whilst I think of it, The car has been idling a little rough lately and tends to vibrate a bit when I'm doing around 100 clicks on the highway.
Inlet gasket perhaps? Or worse still possible head gasket.

does the exhaust on start up blow out a bit more steam & you should notice a different smell than the standard exhaust fumes? have you tried to tighten the inlet manifold bolts? also what model & km's.
also make sure the hose clamps are tight now after a few hundred kms. I had a clamp let go the other week on my jeep only tiny leak & the clamp felt tight with a screwdriver on it but it fell a part when i tried to unscrew it they dont make those screw clamps as good any more. It is possible for a head gasket to fail without having oil & coolant mix.
Maybe start with a thorough inspection & look for tell tale green coolant marks on the engine. Inspect ALL hoses/connections too. Vibration is probably wheel balance. |

I had thought the vibration could be the harmonic balancer but an inspection of it looks good and it doesn't vibrate through the rev range.

If it comes to the point where you are considering removing the head, it is definitely do-able at home to avoid mechanics fees.
I did my AU2 recently & documented the process on my YouTube channel. You can look it up via my signature or I'll post the link if needed. It took me 5 days with the exception of having to remove the timing casing after breaking a chain guide! |

As tyres wear they often go out of balance. Mine have & also vibrates intermittently through the steering wheel on the highway.

Heater tap was the culprit...it was cracked and leaking where one of the hoses connects to it.
$54 from Repco and all done now. Glad it was only something simple.
