I'm looking at getting an AUIII XR8 220 kW Windsor for my AUII Fairlane. I'm aware of ECU and BEM issues and have a solution for that. I also have an AUII trans which apparently suits an AUIII engine, and I have the tailshaft and other required parts for the engine bay, etc.
The seller is asking for me to make an offer on the engine and ECU. So I'm wondering what do people think is a fair price? Engine has done 110,000 kms. Many thanks!!

Unfortunately I missed out on the engine I enquired about above.
I still would like to get some advice please, as I've now got the opportunity to get an AU series 1 TS50 220 engine for my AUII. I think there are problems with AU1 going into AU2, is that right? Electronics... Would the premium brakes from the AU1 TS50 fit my AU2 okay?

Imo series 3 cast iron head 220's are the best motors in 5l guise.
Alloy headed 220 motors really aren't that great. Perm brakes from s1 won't fit.

Cobra cam and low comp of the alloy heads make them lazy compared to the cast headed xr8 ones.

I remember Tickford engineers claiming the all iron 220 sounded better too, if that is at all possible

I thought the alloy headed sounded better in mine.
Have been told that the combustion chamber of the gt40p head makes them sound a bit tinny compared to say e7's or svo alloys I did find this when I swapped motors in my car.
