Should Adult Material be Allowed In AFF

Hello to all fellow AFF Junkies .............
well thought i should start this thread after a very offensive thread was posted earlier on .............. with a very offensive title linked to adult site..
much to my amazement it was still not deleted ... until i raised my voice...
now i dont want to take too much of your time but just like to say that adult material should strictly be banned and offenders should be dealth with accordingly perhaps ban from the site.............. from the time that i have been a member of this forum i have always thought of it as a forum for ford ethusiasts and not Porn .......... and if members like 1locker starts threads with pornographic material then it wont be long till this forum loses it reputation and as i recal earlier there was a discussion about how to make this forum better and target it more towards the females aswell.......... i must say that the idea is in jeopardy ..................................

wtf are you on about? Sure i saw the thread that you were refering to, but to suggest that the moderaters/forum community in general condone that type of material is absured. Admins/mods cannot be on here 24/7 and read every post as soon as they are posted, thus that particular thread that you were refering to wasnt deleted until a moderator was notified of its presence (or they stumbled upon it themselves). If you dont like the content of a particular post/thread then use the report button, thats what its their for.

Yes, you are correct on your points there

The offender has been permanently banned and thread deleted. Whether or not some of us like what that thread contained, this is a car forum....if you want adult stuff there are plenty of other sites to visit

If that sort of material is allowed it doesnt portray us as being very friendly to all demographic of users, nor does it seem professional or mature.

I should also add, 3 people reported the thread very quickly and that was emailed to the admin and mod team

Well done to those who reported it, the report post button is there for anyone to use, so in effect everyone can be a potential moderator! There is so much to read for us here that reported posts are a quick way of problems to be sorted out

im still exploring this forum didnt know such thing existed and i dont mean to say anything bad about moderators its bloody 11.52 pm in melb time so i knew as soon as a mod sees it .... it would be banned its just that i saw it and posted - so it does get banned ................. coool down mate.......... i was trying to do goood not evil...

I'm pretty sure that "adult material" is banned here. And, in the off chance the admin consideres changing that rule - I will voice my opinion. I don't care if people wanna look at porn, but surely they can find it elsewhere. This is a ford forum, not a ford and porn forum.

that thread was just spam. i'm guessing the link would redirect to a few sites, then finish up installing soem toolbar that would haunt the user for life. The spammer was out to make a few bucks whoring his link.

ban their sorry butt. if people want to look at that content, they can search for it. i dont believe a car forum should permit adult content.

Definitely keep the adult material out of here. In my opinion it's more about the fact that site's with a purpose/target need to stick to that purpose or they just get over-run and overcrowded.

Keep it car/ford related so people that come to Ford forums see ford's and related material

I'm pretty much against "general chat" sections on sites with a purpose as well but it's the norm these days.

So yer I say don't allow it, but with the reason "this is a car forum for car chat" not with the reason "it's inappropriate"

I agree totally - you want porn, go to a porn site. You want pics of cars, discussions and info about cars, then come to AFF.

100% agree with no pornographic/overly raunchy images/websites/videos posted on AFF. I've been around for a while and I've enjoyed it for its intellectual discussions and love of cars. Last thing we need is knuckle draggers giving us examples of why we need to use contraception.

Plus I think some if not all of the female forum members would not take too lightly to having their gender degraded in such a way, especially with the posts and comments that would soon follow I'd imagine.

Both Rodderz and I hit the thread running at the same time. This was less then 4 minutes after it was created. Given this was after 11pm on a sunday night the fact that 2 mods were their within a matter of minutes is pretty good testement to the speed of the mod team in dealing with junk.

This is not a porn site, no porn will be allowed. In the case of this offender he was the actual webmaster of the porn site and, based on him being almost no chance of becoming an active, productive member of this forum, was removed permenently to stop a repeat.

Firstly, pornographic material is already banned, read the TOS.
Secondly, it wasnt deleted just because you raised your voice.
Thirdly. There are literally hundreds of posts and threads per day, reading them all is an impossibility, and the moderators here dont live online patrolling day and night. We have families, jobs, hobbies, friends, bbq's and outside lives to attend to. We dont get paid to moderate. Its not a full time job.

The thread which you mention was deleted within 4 minutes of it being posted and the user was banned. If you want a response time faster then that, open your own forum, invite 10 thousand members, and have a try.
