Default paypal charge back scams

hey

Any one else out there that had to deal with a Paypal charge back, if the buyers pay through paypal using their credit card even after leaving good feedback after receiving the item through ebay they are still able to instruct their credit card company to do a charge back to paypal.

They use the excuse "unauthorised transaction" even though they had deliberately purchased and recieved the item and left good feedback.

thanks

Yes, had this happen to me selling an old Nintendo game I had recently. It's very game of them as I have his full name and address.

I sent a number of messages and eventually got back a devil face emoticon.

i sent my item to NZ and was worth over 1K,i have proof of sending, proof of delivery, proof of good feedback, emails kept from the seller giving me postage instructions and now i have to wait up to 75 days for an outcome that will result from how hard paypal will fight their credit card company

This scam has been going on for years apparently

Yes it has....especially if the buyer is an overseas buyer. When selling items I'm afraid it should be a cash only purchase....as sad as it is there are scamers everywhere out there. Some are even posting fake adds selling caravans and the like using pictures & VIN's stolen from genuine adds. I had one when I answered an add about 6 months ago. I reported it to the ACCC, the website that posted the add etc etc everyone I could. I googled the email address of the seller and found other adds selling different caravans on other sites. If the purchase price is too good to the true as it was in this case, it probably is. Paypal need to be more proactive with these issues of charge backs. I would hazard a guess 90% of the people that go through Paypal would be unaware of the charge back thing with Paypal.

Its an issue as the scammer will pay for products with their credit card via paypal, when the buyer( scammer) asks the credit card company for a charge back it becomes an issue between the seller and the buyers credit card company, the seller can not and has no contact with the credit card company to provide evidence.

The seller has to rely on paypal to help out and the outcome is decided by the credit card company not paypal.

Even if the seller sells the item as no returns, the credit card companies rules will over ride paypal.

Its even worse if you let someone pick up an item and let them use paypal to pay for it,you have no shipping details to prove anything

AND when PayPal eventually rules in your favour (if you're lucky) you'll only get back a maximum of 75%.

The buyers credit card company has the final say,you have to rely on paypal to help as they keep the credit card company name and details from you

If you go through the paypal terms the buyers can ask for a charge back even after they leave good feedback via ebay as the credit card company wont take take anything from ebay into account

Any credit card transaction from what i understand has that option up to 6 months after the transaction has been made to "debate" it and people often ask me why i don't do high sales amounts over the phone. The banks will deduct the money and then we have to fight to get it back and i would say the same goes for Paypal as it is just a go between for the same thing.
Also paypal take there fee straight out and that is another challenge getting that back.

You also have to make sure you are shipping to the address that is a buyers paypal approved address, if you ship to an ebay address that doesnt match the buyers paypal address you loose automatically.

Thats one of my issues , i sent the item through "Pack and Send" and they used UPS,the delivery address ended up being different than the postal address, most likely because the buyer had picked it up from the postal contractors office and thats where UPS had verified where buyer had signed for it,a different location than the actual ebay/paypal postal address
