Now for the young, Lawn Bowls may seem an old mans game, Maybe.....
But for any body who enjoys a "drink" and not so fit anymore, this game is the most. Where can you start drinking at 9 am ----Bowls Roll up of course Who makes jam and cream scones for ya mornin tea ---- lady bowlers BBQ lunch to soak up the mornin grog---- Bowls Walk the equivilent of about 4 km ------ above the "life be in it" average Amortization of the days game "with grog" till late--- Bowls Not for the faint hearted i can tell you, this involves a lot of practice !!! Any way, i got a new set of bowls 3 weeks ago and all the top brass bowlers , said !, dont use them untill you practice with them first, ME ! no way "minor singles champianships" good place to start i say. GOT FLOGGED 31 - 3 . Still cant get the courage to front them old bastards and cop thier "told you so" remarks. Have played 2 social games as practice since and play "Major singles champs" today , If nothing else--- I will be fed and exersised and legless..... :

Lawn bowls rocks, I have played in a few corporate comps @ New Farm bowls club, they are preetty cool, most teams enjoy the game for the cheap beer, other teams play for the win, and the cheap beer is a side story...
Always good fun, thats for certain! Where else can you spend $5 and get unlimited hours worth of entertainment, if you add $15 you can get a bbq meal as well, and if you spend $50, you will certainly need a ride home, or even a cab! |

Shhhh ... don't tell em about the secrets of lawn bowls.
hee hee I still got my old set of bowls that suit me fine ... large buggers too (4 and 15/16 in size). I need to get out and have another roll-up though ... since I have moved I need to organise becoming a member of a club ... but i hardly get the time to play though. I used to compete in high school as a bludge ... went to state titles and won for Elderslie High ... was pretty stoked. Also just before I turned 18 I won the Junior Southern Highland championships ... played a few pennants with Camden Bowling Club and won ... but eventually had less and less time for the game ... shame really cos it's pretty damn good. Need an AFF bowls day ... LMAO

My mates grnadad used to be the chairman or something of our old local club, and we use to go there for the 80c bottles of ginger beer lol!.
Then some of the members were complaining about non members being there... so we beacme members in 96 and started playhing to and use to beat them so then we got in trouble for that haha.. Play'd for 2-3 years then other thing took my interest. Still dont mind the game and it is harder than it looks..

It's not the type of sport i'd consider doing full time (give me a 400cc trail bike any day ;)) but great fun with a group of friends who don't take it seriously. The beer flows freely too! Some of those old fellas can drink!

Yep, been on the greens 4 or 5 times now, every time off my face by 11am. The crossing the lane scull gets me everytime (well, such is the rules at St Lucia Bowles Brisbane). I have no skill whatsoever, but a surprisingly a fun sport.

I am shocked and appalled that anyone would promote such a dangerous and extreme pass time on a motor vehicle site.
Did you know that statisticly there are more fatalities during lawn bowles matches than any other sport in the world!!!! Even more than GOLF...... |

we played it for wednesday sports at school, so we could go home early we ended up winning the comp! outta 5 schools the most embarrasing thing was, was when we had to get up in front of the whole school and recieve the trophy (about 1200 people) still i was proud of my one and only trophy that i got for the school
