Ive listen to chases a couple of times on a family friends Scanner, can be interisting.

Best part is when the guy who works for your dad hears your name come accross the scanner on a friday night...

As the Holden div vans do not have the new digital radios fitted the analogue network is still running. The digital radios are not fitted as the workers who fit them refuse to get into the back of the pods for health and safety reasons. Was supposed to be running by the start of the Commonwealth games.

Once the Comm games are over, there will be a lot of stuff sold off (as there was after the Olympics here) and you *should* be able to pick up digital scanners, as used by the security personel, cheap.

My uncle did, and they'd forgotten to lock out the police and emergency frequencies.

On the news tonight there is a long chase going on in bris up freeways the wrong way almost put cop off his bike apparently this blue ute was chased twice last night and has a female driver with male pax.

Even had time to go and refuel went home realised chopper was on them and took off again that was the last vision...waiting on an update.

I pulled into croydon station on the train that arvo only to find cops in bullet proof vests and 3 choppers circling. Hit the scanner straight away. It was quite an interesting listen - especially when they found him and i could hear all the car's hammering up the road (i live right near the station).

It's probably more exciting if your a local and know all the roads.

The update (about half hour ago or so), they still hadn't found the ute but I also heard earlier the male passenger was seen to be armed.... not sure how true.. you know what the media are like!!!!!!!!!!

I understand. I have worked when members have been shot, listened to the radio and it is hard to explain the feelings that go through my head. I have been on a radio calling for back up to urgent events. Some of these events may seem a little boring to the public, and I agree can be. It is easier for me to follow the lingo and get involved. The first 40 minutes of this are pretty mind numbing. I found myself getting agro with members, especially Croydon 265, who kept jumping in at the wrong moments. Of course, if I was there, I would probably have been doing the same thing. Anyhow a good little insight into an event over police radio. The operators do an incredibly hard job and full praise to the. They have to keep their cool when everything else is hitting the fan!!

It was an interesting listen when I could hear it.. but that could be my speakers or whatever...
I have heard a lot of radio communications from the police training videos etc and sometimes they are mind numbing if you don't understand the pressure behind what is being communicated.....
But, I remember one particular one we listened to and it was chilling, we were warned prior to hearing it but not one person had any idea of how they would be feeling sitting there listening (I can only partially imagine how the officers involved felt at the time, the ones in the thick, the ones listening to what was happening - live)..........Something I don't really want to hear again to be honest.
