Default Left/Hand drive Ford Ranger evaluation vehicle

I don’t follow the ford ranger much these days but I managed to get a few pictures of a left hand drive black ford ranger today driving around in my district. (My second spy vehicle, I must be lucky! )

Is there supposed to be a Left/hand drive ranger in the pipeline for overseas markets?

Victorian number plates. Two vehicles, one black without camouflage and the other white with full camouflage.

Both obviously looked like ford rangers but I’m not sure why the camo on the white one? Any one know why it would be camouflaged?

I’ll see if I can start up my photobucket account again if anyone’s interested?

You can start photobucket if you'd like to give them about $500

Try Postimage.

He mentions the new Bronco at the end, I forgot about them.

Ranger is available in RHD and LHD and has always been. It's sold in over 180 countries.

I’m pretty sure what I seen is the American FX4 (in black) and a Raptor in the white camouflage.

Yep the black one is the US version.

Camo one is a standard car with Raptor running gear.

Thanks for the pics.

Hi all,

Sorry to mine an old thread. I had an evaluation Ranger pass me last week between Ballarat and Geelong. It was behind me waiting for a passing lane, then when the lane opened up, accelerated very quickly. Too fast for a diesel, I reckon. As it went past, I noticed it had a sticker that read ‘caution, left hand drive evaluation vehicle’. It had a lip on the top of the tailgate, similar to the NP300 Navara, and the word Ranger embossed into the metal of the tailgate (as opposed to the usual sticker). I suspect (hope) it might have an 8 in it. Just thought some might be interested.

Maybe there’s one more refresh before the next gen Ranger?
That would give Ford some latitude with an evolving platform
to roll in some unseen changes......

Just a thought also, with the way manufacturers in the US show off new models way in advance of actual on-sale dates, eg. Lincoln Aviator was revealed a year before you could buy one and with Ranger built and sold in the US now, we'll most likely get a look at the next all-new Ranger well in advance of what used to be the lead times locally.

Probably a few getting around, my work has one that gets driven on public roads for evaluation, its a run of the mill US production vehicle.

US Ranger. 100%.

Petrol motor is a 2.3 Ecoboost, just like the one used in the Ecoboost Mustang. They go pretty well.

Was it the 'left hand drive' sign that gave it away?

You do realise that our version of the Ranger is also built in LHD? And you would be much more likely to see one of those LHD models on local roads than a US version.

Only US Ranger gets the embossed tailgate with the little lip on the top.

The little amber 'driving light' at the front would be a giveaway too as it seems that is part of US design rules

No I have not, looks nice enough, many many differences under the skin compared to a AU vehicle.
