It is good to see a Car Company doing this kind of thing.
If they can turn a profit out of it then why not. One day if I go out side and see pigs flying I will know that Ford has done the same thing with the Barra.

Very cool. Good to see an OEM producing such an iconic engine.
It will be interesting to see the effects this has on the price of used RB26s in the future. |

Amazing news, Nissan should never have stopped making those engines though, and they have done the right thing to resurrect it from the dead. Ford Performance Global should take note..

I was under the impression that the standard blocks weren't that flash anyway. They have quite a reputation for cracking.
The Nismo blocks on the other hand were bullet proof.

Nissan and Toyota inline engine debates are like time itself . In that field it's a bit like Are you a Nissan guy or Toyota guy (or gal) ?
Like Ford or Holden , Canon or Nikon , Sony or Panasonic etc etc.. Then along comes Barra to muddy the waters a bit but "apparently" from the dedicated Japanese inline 6 fans it's not in the argument. I reckon it's cool that the Nissan RB26 is back in the picture last built in 2004 if what I read is correct ..Does anybody think that this might spark a response from other crews , even Ford with the Barra too or is there too many out there still to warrant a return seeing she's only been gone about three years officially . |

Just re-read the article so they are producing the Block only
Nissan's RB26DETT N1 block for $3,833 USD BTW the N1 is the Nismo spec. "The N1 designation indicates that the block has been cast with a higher nickel content, as well as thicker cylinder walls and deck surfaces for builds with higher power goals in mind. The strengthened block is also said to have improved water channels over the standard offering."

Nissan could do well with keeping the OEM theme on the RB26 going with an improved version of the N1 block with even higher nickel and thicker cylinder bores, say 7-8mm and a deck thickness closer to our lovely Barra motor. Then you could really lean on that one, whilst reserving the aftermarket billet blocks when one is "only" chasing north of 2,000hp ...
