Well, looks like my prediction that Kia would take Ford again before Ford took 3rd spot didn't take long to come to fruition, that Mitsubishi leapt them both is of interest too.
That Triton is certainly making headway, i'm seeing them everywhere. |

4851 is total Ranger sales for the month (4x4 + 4x2)
For some reason VFACTS separates 4x2 and 4x4

If only we could convince Ford to go after the $23,990 tradie 4x2 Ute. Sarcasm here but, maybe the reason Everest did better was because high price Endura made it look better value... Seriously, what Ford DH approves a vehicle like this for our market knowing that it's getting canned in Europe.. Until Ford sorts Ford Europe, Ford Aust, can't even get a leg into the SUV conversation. where's our hybrid Explorer/Puma/Escape?...where's our anything? with Hilux and Colorado being even older under their make up... It's all about the need for maturity of design and market familiarity and trust, being reliable for more than a couple of years. A lot of the jump in sales numbers no doubt linked to EOFY so interesting to see what pull ahead of sales happens. The tide can go out a long way........ |

Is the Mustang steady or going down? The higher price hurting?
Still so many low K examples around so no shortages I gather.

You only have to look at Kia's rise, that it coincides with dearer opposition in the same market is telling. People will still want their new car, but are happy to consider the cheaper alternative. Last edited by BENT_8; 04-07-2019 at 07:47 AM. |

If Hilux and Ranger had different model designations for 2wd vss 4wd, the largest selling vehicle last month was a Ford
..........Ranger......Hilux Total......4851........5319 2x..........455........1503 4x.........4396........3814 This would see Ranger in #1 and Hilux in #2 |

Seems Triton is back to normal. Still waiting for Amarok to be the big leader.

Toyota still seem to have their reputation to take to the bank but for the life of me I just can't figure out how they do it. They offer the worst warranties and the least features and often the lowest tech, and still walk out on top. Clearly this says 'peace of mind' is a major factor for buyers. Having said that, the cars coming out of Mazda, Hyundai, Kia and even Nissan and Mitsi are all pretty good value. Of course they all have pro's and cons, but the point is, if you aren't brand loyal, there is more than enough choice in the market to find a good value car without paying a premium for a certain badge. The warranties are normally among the best as well. anything less than 5yr warranty these days I wouldn't even bother with. vfacts to me says more about the market place, and the buyer, than it does about the health of any manufacturer.

The Dmax which is due a major overhaul next year is down 196 units on 2018 but still selling in decent numbers considering. I never claimed it would ever push either Hilux or Ranger for the top spot, or even get close, bt it is certainly not doing too bad considering it only sold only 600 less than the brand new Triton of which it is probably better compared to. |

Not really when you can buy a 3.2 XLS for low 40's (newer tech, better driveline). I cant understand why people buy cheaper utes with more bling for the same price as lower spec Rangers. Fords biggest problem with Ranger for the last 8 years has been supply. In the early days it was Wildtrak and XLT, you could have to wait up to 3 - 6 months for either. Now its an issue with 4x2 product, Ford just dont support Ranger in 4x2 guise, they don't build enough or stock enough and they never do campaigns on them.

If Ford gave the 2WD Ranger some more Promotion, They'd knock the Thailux off It's pedestal, & stand a good chance of building some future Brand Loyalty.... |

I'm not sure where you got the 196 unit figure from. Using Russ' figures, it is closer to 500 down YTD which doesn't sound much but because it is coming of a low base the percentage is higher. Edit: I guess the 196 is for the month of June. That is about 10%. I believe the LCV market is down 7%. Last edited by naddis01; 04-07-2019 at 04:15 PM. |

With the uncertainty of the Federal election having passed and the first rate cut by the RBA at the start of June, it seems like neither of these had any impact to lift car sales.
