7 seaters

Considering our future with vehicles. Recently had 4 relies from New Zealand, and along with us 3, I would love to have had 1 vehicle but the thought of 7 adults in a Prada, Terri or similar and a 7 hour drive to Adelaide was just a shotty idea. So we used 2 vehicles and 2 way radios.

But this brings me to the Q. are there any 7 seaters that would comfortably carry 7 adults long distance, without going mini bus type thing.

I now own a Mercedes r. Bit funny to look at, but superbly comfortable for either 6 or 7 adults depending on model. L model is longer. Bit more mid row. Come in a variety of engines, I have a very rare 5.5 v8, but depends what you like. It is a wagon, it has awd running gear from the m and g classes. So not as bulky as the big 4wd’s. Never thought I’d be in one, but am loving it. A cross between a territory turbo ghia and a caprice. Two cars I loved. Online parts reasonably priced, 3 days out of the us. Nothing as scary as id been told (at least yet)

Probably the only ones are Acadia or Pathfinder. Those two can fit adults back there. Otherwise you are stuck with vans

Why wouldn’t you consider a Kia carnival? I rented one to ferry my workmates from brissie to the Sunshine Coast and back,3.3 V6 big and comfy, gave my passengers heart failure when pegging the throttle on the freeway on-ramp.

Latest Kluger is actually really big. Dislike the driving dynamics but it's the American SUV size.

Kia carnival drives better.

Kia Carnival is good, but just turn off all the assists like adaptive cruise etc...

It has sliding doors from both sides of vehicle too.

Carnival is the only one where you can take luggage too

you might find that some 7 seaters have a weight limit on the 3rd row
the 7 seat option in my car has a 45kg limit so that rules out adults
vans are the only real option
vans can be cool! i've loved vans since I rode in a mid 80's tarago with moon roof and spin around seats and red velour everywhere

to sit a little higher the current pathfinder has good seats and space.

Mazda CX-9, although you'd put your shortest people in the third row. I'm 6' tall and have to turn my head to the side to fit in OK.

Territory has more room in the back than a CX9.

I had a Pathfinder as a loan car recently ... and they are not too bad for what they are. Drive like a bowl of Jelly though ... and the CVT is not too bad. V6 has some punt as well.
They feel bigger than the Terri to drive .... and I noticed some weird blind spots as well.

Comfy though and some nice options.

leaked oil badly though for a 40,000km rental car.

Be careful of the early Carnival's, they have a tendency to drop the cylinder sleeves and lose compression, its a common issue.
There are people out there who replace the original engine with Mitsubishi V6's from either late Magna or 380 era.

Short Answer = No.
Unless you have a strange idea of either Adults or Comfort.

Something like an iMax will give you the most room, but that is effectively a minibus, and as always those sitting above the rear axle are liable to spinal injury. Furthermore, high-speed intercity travel is at the mercy of road-trains and cross-winds.

The more practical and/or car-like you get, typically the less the room in the rear. But if two of your Adults are under 5ft, slim, and like Yoga, then you could probably get away with a Carnival or Large SUV.

The Honda Odyssey is brilliant. Many claim to drive like a car, it really does. The backseats are very good, but egress is best suited to the very limber.
